Which romance books are your tried and true favorites?

In other words, you've read them more than once and look to them for a good comfort read.

The Secret Pearl by Mary Balogh It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas A Perfect Bride (Sterling Trilogy, #1) by Samantha James and any of Julie Garwood's historicals :)

So how many times have you guys read your comfort books?

Do you try to squeeze them in yearly or in a book slump?

message 5: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda I don't have comfort books. I have more of what I'd call comfort authors, i.e., they have series. I am comfortable with the characters.

I understand what you mean. I don't get a lot of time for rereads, so I go to my tried and true authors when I need to hear their familiar voices.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter #1) by J.K. Rowling Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1) by J.R. Ward The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld #1) by Gena Showalter

Lisa | 14 comments I have enjoyed re-reading most of Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series. One of the first historicals I ever read was Laura London's (Tom and Sharon Curtis) now classic "The Windflower." I have multiple copies of the paperback and recently purchased and listened to the audio version. The historical genre is my personal favorite, but I like suspense and paranormal, too. I could probably list over 100 books I've liked well enough to re-read on a regular basis! The Immortals After Dark Collection Dreams Of A Dark Warrior, Demon From The Dark, A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2, 10, 11) by Kresley Cole The Windflower by Sharon Curtis

message 10: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda I have no books I've re-read in the past 5 years. There's a lot of books I want to read.

message 11: by Karen (new)

Karen (lvsbks) | 1 comments Love this question!! If someone reads something over and over, then it usually means it's pretty good, and I might need to add it to my TBR list. I have "The Windflower" on my TBR list, but forgot that it was there, so I'm going to have to bump it up!
Here are a few of my favorites that I have reread over and over.

Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) by Kristen Ashley Tack......<3
Paradise (Second Opportunities, #1) by Judith McNaught The first time I read it, I stayed up until 5 in the morning to finish it, jumped in the shower and went to work. So good!
Rock Chick Revenge (Rock Chick, #5) by Kristen Ashley Luke and Ava. Well mostly Luke. :))
The Godfather by Mario Puzo I read this for the first time when I was 14. (My mom was not happy when she found out) I found it in a box of books in our basement. I read it, then immediately flipped it to the front and read it again. I've read it so many times it's held together with a rubber band.
The first 3 of the Mallory series from Johanna Lindsey. Love Only Once (Malory-Anderson Family, #1) by Johanna Lindsey Tender Rebel (Malory-Anderson Family, #2) by Johanna Lindsey and Gentle Rogue (Malory-Anderson Family, #3) by Johanna Lindsey Those Mallory brothers.......sigh.
I am not a huge paranormal fan, but I've heard so many things about Kresley Cole's series, I may have to try it!! Thanks for sharing!!

Karen, you reminded me that I read so many Johanna Lindsey books and loved them, too! My older sister shared her books with me, and my Mom was quite stunned to discover I was reading such racy novels, LOL. But I've ended up with a lifelong love of romance novels, particularly historicals as a result. The thing I love about Kresley Coles IAD series is the humor in them...some of the dialog is just laugh-out-loud funny and the characters are always well written and the heroes sexy as all get out!

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments Oh man, now I realize that I haven't gotten my comfort book back after loaning it out...can't remember WHO to!...and I can't remember its name or author!!!! Aargh. Gotta look back to see if I logged it in GR's...
