Creepy/spooky/horror suggestions:1. Hell House by Richard Matheson
2. The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent
3. Suicide Forest by Jeremy Bates
I'd love reading A Monster Calls, Shadow and Bone, or The Raven Boys.Suggestions: (these are some books I've heard that are scary/spooky or have a spooky theme to them but I haven't read yet)
1. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
2. Ghostopolis by Doug TenNapel (graphic novel)
3. Baba Yaga's Assistant by Marika McCoola (graphic novel)
I'm reading The Graveyard Book right now and it's really good so far. It's definitely middle grade so it would probably be good to pick an adult book as well. Dracula I think might be a little long for the time we have left but it is so good! I'd be interested in some Tana French, too, she has an eerie writing style.
I agree with many books listed, but especially Frankenstein. I'd love to finally read it.
Proposing:We Have Always Lived in the Castle
Heart-Shaped Box
Seconding:
A Monster Calls
A Madness So Discreet
Suicide Forest
Shadow And Bone
Baba Yaga's Assistant
Frankenstein
I like the ideas of A Monster Calls, Ghostopolis, and The Graveyard Book!I will also throw out: The Girl With All The Gifts, The Accident Season, and NOS4A2!
It looks like "A Monster Calls" is currently winning, so I'm pretty sure that's going to be one of our books.
As for the second one, it looks like people also have an interest in The Graveyard Book, The Raven Boys, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Frankenstein and Library of Souls.
Out of those I listed, what are people most excited about?
If there's enough interest I may pick 3. :)

I'm really interested in The Raven Boys, Frankenstein and Library of Souls. All books I've been meaning to check out for a while :)
A Monster Calls, I think, is more sad than scary/creepy. It is still a good and quick read though! I guess, the illustrations add to the creep factor. lol
I would love to read The Girl With All The Gift, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Bird Box and The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly.
I'm interested in all but I want to put my vote on The Raven Boys as it's the only one on my tbr and I can't really afford any new books right now.

Anyway, as for the second pick, I'm interested in all of the ones you mentioned! Except Library of Souls because I haven't read the first two.
I'd be interested in all of the book choices, but instead of Library of Souls we should do Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Partly because some of us haven't read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children/Hollow City yet, and partly because since Library of Souls just got released some of us might not have access to the book yet.
I'll go with We Have Always Lived In The Castle (which is quite a short book - 160 pages/5h30m on audiobook)
I love the theme, I'm in the mood for some creepy books as well! I'm going to suggest a few adult titles: "The Girl With All the Gifts" (I'm about 40% through and it's very creepy and the plot moves quickly) and "Bird Box" (Something is out there . . . Something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from. Five years after it began, a handful of scattered survivors remain, including Malorie and her two young children. Living in an abandoned house near the river, Malorie has long dreamed of fleeing to a place where her family might be safe. But the journey ahead will be terrifying: twenty miles downriver in a rowboat--blindfolded--with nothing to rely on but Malorie's wits and the children's trained ears. One wrong choice and they will die. And something is following them. But is it man, animal, or monster?).

I could buy it, but wasn't really into Hollow City so I'd rather check it out.
I just finished reading A Monster Calls last night... I would like to second Miss Peregrine's Home - this book intrigues me a lot !

So! Let's pick two fall books to read between now and mid December!
Any theme suggestions? I'm of course in the mood for creepy/spooky/horror books, but I am open to other ideas.
My suggestions are:
1. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
2. A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
3. Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
