Adaptation: Book VS Film discussion

Maya and myself will be starting to read
WHITE OLEANDER by Janet Fitch around the 10th November ish time. ANYBODY LIKE TO JOIN US? :)

TAGS: coming of age, abandonment, mother-daughter and parent-child (Including foster care) relationships, abuse, mental illness.

Film stars Michelle Phiffer and Renee Zelwegger.

I've been wanting to read this book for some years. I actually own the audio and hardback. LOL. I started once...but didn't get far. I'll join in.

I had read a few chapters when i lived in the usa but left it behind :/ i was enjoying it aswell! have seen the film (not bad) but have a feeling the book will be better.

I got my copy today so I will start this weekend

It's been years since I've seen the film as well.

i saw it last year myself, think the book will be 100 times better, it already writes like liquid gold

this book started out good. I got half way through and I am ready for it to end. How is the reading going for everyone?

I'm really enjoying it so far, the prose is well done, i think you're a little ahead of me, i hate when that happens, you love it then want it to end, i have been feeling that way with 'the book thief'

I am ready to discuss the first half whenever you are ready. I am going to just push my way through the second half.

Feeling the same way Maya. I'm pushing my way through. It's been like this with a couple of reads for me lately. I'm almost done with 1st half.

Ehh. I don't know about this book. I mean. I read it and I just walked away from it. It didn't stir any emotion from me. I can't really remember the movie.

I did the same Lulu. I scanned the last few chapters and closed the book. Glad I'm not the only one that felt this way

Ive gone half way and enjoying it, very poetic writing.
however may not be the right time to read it for me
