"Flesh and blood became meat and blood; rendered, rent and cloven into as a beast might dig into the Earth. He delved into the trove, into the belly and bosom. He cracked passed bone like branch and bramble, wrested the entrails and viscera from their rightful places, and molested them as if to murder them as well. He strewed them about until a brother’s body was as hollow carrion in a halo of innards. These innards, these workings of the sacred clay, he tread upon these and trampled them into the Earth, with ill will and intent, with the voice of Mistress bidding in his head."
