Hi everyone *waves*
Hello teamAs your mentor, I'm here to help out if needed (if I'm not too busy making mischief with rest of Loki :P)
Hope you'll have fun and read some great books ☺
Nichole wrote: "I'm pretty sure I was supposed to be on this team. Joanne said so! :P"Awwwww, well, next time, ask the gods, I mean, mods. Maybe they'll grant a boon. Maybe.
:D
Hi everyone! So excited that we have teams now!Not too many familiar faces for me but I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. I'm going to send everyone a friend request so I can more easily look at all your shelves if need be.
Thanks V for taking care of reserving a few spaces at the top. I had to work late and then go vote (federal election today here in Canada) so it's 7:30 and I'm just getting online for the first time today.
Just wanted to say this is my first time captain-ing a big team challenge like this and also my first Tower-team challenge so feel free to give me tips or suggestions on how to manage the game.
Here is my shelf.Link to spreadsheet with goal possibilities. I did play the Gladiator Games so I am familiar with this aspect of the game.
Hello fellow teammates. This is my first time participating, so keep me pointed in the right direction as I learn the ropes. My shelf for the challenge can be viewed here.
Whoop we are all piling in now lol.I'll put everyone's shelf links above for you Joanne.
We should be able to muddle though together easily, I was captain for the last Tower team but I didn't do it this time because of the igloo, as I thought it would probably be too much lol
Amanda A wrote: "Hi everyone! Looking forward to another round of Tower Teams. Here is my tt4 shelf."
Amanda A i couldn't add your shelf yet as your profile is private ;o)
Oh good, I'm glad to hear you've been a captain for this challenge before. I honestly don't know what I was thinking, should have started out volunteering as co-captain.I've just been finding lately on big challenges that when I'm a regular team member I wish I were more involved in the spreadsheet part and organization portion of the challenges so though I would jump right in. We'll see how it goes.
I also know there are some real spreadsheet wizards in this group who make some crazy ones up for these challenges which takes a lot of pressure off. I can use one no problem but planning and making one is a different story.
We should probably all get to know each other a bit, seeing as we'll be spending the next couple of months together.Where do you live? What time zone?
What type of work/school do you do/what do you do in your spare time (besides reading)
What is the last really great book you read?
What are you reading right now?
Anything else you want to tell us about yourself!
I hate to leave this questions and run but I have to get to work so I'll answer them when I get home.
It's pretty rare for me to be able to get on at work (so I am very jealous) and usually if I can sneak in a bit of computer time I use it to open up my library ebook on overdrive or scribd.
I'm from the Pacific Northwest, so Pacific Time Zone. Spare time? Do I have any? Seems like my darling child, teen now, but still fills my spare time with things. My current work deals with medical claims, prior I did civil engineering, land use planning and land surveying related work.Last greatest book, isn't that like asking a parent with multiple children to pick their favorite? Some recent favorites that surprised me, The Girl with All the Gifts, Eugénie Grandet andThe Man Who Lost Himself. Reading right now, umm, easy to many unfinished projects as a peek at my currently reading shelf will reveal. So I'll just list, Heir of Fire, The Castle of Otranto and A Hero of Our Time.
Time to start work...
Where do you live? What time zone?Omaha, Nebraska is US Central time
What type of work/school do you do/what do you do in your spare time (besides reading)
Retired from commercial work - full-time grandma, literally. I share a house with my son's family so I have 2 granddaughters under 3 here all day. I also crochet, cross stitch, knit and do large jigsaw puzzles. I'm working on a 9000 piece puzzle right now.
What is the last really great book you read?
Hitty, Her First Hundred Years by Rachel Field, a Newbery winner from the 1920s.
What are you reading right now?
White Plague by James Abel and The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
My challenge shelf is called tower-teams-iv and is here
I'm jealous, a 9000 piece puzzle. My daughter and I haven't done a puzzle in a long time, but we enjoy doing them.[edited for those obnoxious typo's on mobile devices]
I'm from Portugal, so my timezone is GMT.The last great book(s) I read were Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness and Traitor's Moon. I'm really loving this series. Also Rattlesnake, which was surprising since I'm not usually a big fan of anything with a western feel, but this was amazing.
Right now I'm reading Guardian.

I added Throne of Glass to my to-read list after playing the Gladiator Games and everyone kept talking about them. Haven't started reading it yet though.

2 granddaughters will definitely keep you busy, especially at that age!
I'm amazed at even hearing there exists such a thing as a 9000 piece puzzle. I like the idea of doing puzzles but in reality I mostly like them when I'm near the end and everything is coming together.
ShelfHi all! I'm in Michigan, the Eastern timezone. I work in a bakery where I mostly deliver wedding cakes. I enjoy gardening and traveling.
There are two books I've recently finished that were fantastic: World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and The Martian (though it took me forever to get through the latter).
Now I'm reading The Maze Runner and Smart But Stuck: Emotions in Teens and Adults with ADHD

So many people around here read M/M romance. One of these days I'm going to have to give it a try. I don't even know where to start though.

Where do you live? What time zone?I live in Winnipeg (Canada), central time (UTC-06:00)
What type of work/school do you do/what do you do in your spare time (besides reading)
I work in a Transfusion Medicine lab doing patient testing for people who need blood transfusions. I don't really have any hobbies besides reading, watching Netflix and cuddling my two kitties.
What is the last really great book you read?
The last 2 books that got 5 stars from me were Seabiscuit: An American Legend and Station Eleven
What are you reading right now?
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies, Dreams of Gods & Monsters and Just One Day

Oooh I forgot about gardening. I've been in my house for a year now so this summer I tried my hand at planting some vegetables. It went better than I expected and I liked it quite a bit.
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and The Martian were both such good reads!

My husband loved World War Z. I've read The Maze Runner and thought it was the best book in the trilogy.
Joanne wrote: "What are you reading right now?Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies,"
This is one of my top five all-time favorite books. I find myself referring back to what I learned in it when I read other science and history books.

I'm really enjoying it. I gave it to my father-in-law for Xmas last year and he talked about it for months.
Joanne wrote: "I loved The Girl with All the Gifts. I listened to it on audio and really enjoyed it.I added Throne of Glass to my to-read list after playing the Gladiator Games and everyone kept talking about them. Haven't started reading it yet though."
I was leery of The Girl with All the Gifts before I started because I knew enough to know it contained (view spoiler) and that is outside my normal interest. However I was really drawn into the story.
While Throne of Glass was a descent book I felt book two, Crown of Midnight was a much stronger book and moved along with a bunch more excitement. I have barely gotten into book three, so can't comment here yet.
Joanne wrote: "Should we call you "A bookworm reading" or do you have a nickname or name I could use? It feels a bit awkward to me to use when writing to you, lol."In one of my other group I'm usually referred to as BR, or sometimes Bookworm R. I just added (Plethora) to my user name, that is my blog name, so you can call me that if you'd like.
Joanne wrote: "I work in a Transfusion Medicine lab doing patient testing for people who need blood transfusions .... Station Eleven..."That sounds like fun, in the research type of way. Probably hard knowing the story behind the needs for the transfusions. I get that "sad" feeling while working medical claims and seeing NICU baby claims come across and things of that nature.
Station Eleven, I've been trying to get to this book for months now.
