Yun Yi I read the last chapter again and again, still haven't found where it ways Tess was hanged. She was executed for sure. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I am still "under the weather" of this tragedy. So profound, so powerful, so unfortunate! This "President of the Immortals of Aeschylean" was just utterly unfair!

Me again, hi! This is what I do at lunch, play with GR!

This isn't proof that she was hanged, but it was the most common method of execution then, except for things like treason. In Wiki, at:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital...

Under "Notable Executions in the United Kingdom," near the bottom:

9 August 1856: Elizabeth Martha Brown was the last woman to be hanged in public in the English county of Dorset; her hanging is notable in part because it influenced Thomas Hardy, an eyewitness, in his portrayal of the execution of the fictional heroine of Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

Yun Yi GR is the best place to go during lunch, or anytime!

Thanks Ellen. That confirms that I didn't miss anything.
It's so heartbreaking to know that there's a real person on whom Tess's charactor is based.

Laokannan Standard capital punishment in XIX England was hanging, and remained as that until 1973.
