Mallory (I apologize in advance it seems like I have forgotten how to write)

Nikolas opened the door to his apartment and walked in, shutting it behind him as he shrugged off his backpack. It was Friday night, the perfect time for most teenagers to go out to a party or invite some friends over to play drinking games. That wasn't what he had planned, however. Tonight, he was going to kick back with a plate of pizza rolls and try to catch up on his sleep. It sounded boring, sure, but it wasn't like he had many friends here to invite over for drinking anyway. It didn't matter, though, because even if he did have the option to go out to a party tonight, he wouldn't take it. There were a lot of things to be done within his small apartment. Clothes - clean and dirty - were tossed carelessly, the trash can was spilling over, and not to mention the stack of dirty dishes piling up in the sink. Nikolas wasn't an untidy guy, he just happened to let everything slip for the past few days. Things happened when you were stressed out about school. With a sigh, he bent down to pick up a pair of pants from the floor. It was only four in the afternoon, but his night of wonders were just about to begin.

Four o'clock. Felicity had just gotten out of her last class for the day. It wasn't really class, more like she was tutoring some other students in math. She couldn't speak English that well when it came to conversations, but it was easy in math. Add, subtract, divide, multiply, and the odd fraction. It was easier to talk about, and definitely easier to do than the English language. But it wasn't four o'clock in France. In fact, it was eight o'clock. It was right o'clock for Jamie, when he called Felicity and muttered the words she didn't expect to hear. "Nous briser." He'd said, We're breaking up. He said that long distance wasn't for him, that he didn't want to date a girl that lived across the ocean. Felicity had asked if he really meant it, if he was leaving her, and he insisted it wasn't just a cruel prank. In fact, he hadn't even said goodbye, and instead just hung up the phone on a crying Felicity. She and Jamie had only been dating for a year, but Felicity was a sensitive girl, she attached to others easily. So when Jamie hung up on her to go out to some party and replace her, she was busy crying behind the class building that she'd been in.

Felicity wasn't really sure what to do, she didn't deal with situations like this often. She'd had a rough life, but crying in a public place wasn't usually on her (immaculately detailed) weekly planner. The boarding school was buzzing with students, going to and from classes and dorms, swarming in party clothes or getting ready to go out. And Felicity didn't really see running as a good option, it would only draw attention to her. So the pale girl ducked her head, her white, silvery hair covering her face as she ducked through students and faculty. She didn't know where to go, so she only had one option. Being in her dorm room meant seeing her roommate, who wasn't the friendliest girl. She wasn't awful, but Felicity preferred the Russian boy that lived in one of the student apartments. His name was Nikolas, and they'd bonded in the library over their mutual confusion with the English language. They were fast friends after that, and Felicity visited him often, they were always around campus together. So she needed to see him. Her heart was actually hurting from feeling so lonely when she made it to Nik's door. She was sniffling, tears rolling down her cheeks and her hazel eyes rimmed with red. She would've called inside, but she was French, she wasn't about to be rude and knock the door down. She simply rapped her knuckles against it a few times, trying not to let out any telltale sobs.

Mallory Nikolas had managed to pick up most of the clothes that had been strewn across the small living space, only a couple of shirts tossed here and there while everything else was place neatly in the dirty clothes hamper. Eventually he would make his was down to the laundry mat, but there was still a lot more to do before he had the time to do that. Nik walked over to the kitchenette, stopping just in front of the trash can. His hands reached for the edges of the white bag, attempting to peel it away from the can without any of its contents spilling onto the floor. He had almost managed to do so when there was a knock on his door. In defeat, he let the bag go, taking a step back to look at it in confusion. Maybe it would be a better idea if he just took the whole can out to the dumpster. Abandoning his thoughts, he turned to begin to make his way to the door, wondering who could be wanting to see him. It was odd, really, for him to have any type of visitors, but he figured that it was probably the management of the apartments asking him a question. When he opened the door, however, who he saw wasn't at all the management of the building. It was Felicity, his darling French sweetheart friend. She looked upset, which startled him, and he wasn't sure if it was his place to ask what had happened, but that wouldn't stop him from trying to make her happy. "What is wrong?" Nikolas asked, his thick accent very apparent as he spoke. He took a step backwards, allowing for Felicity to walk into his apartment if she so desired.

It didn't take long for Nikolas to open the door, and when he looked at her, Felicity saw the worry in his eyes. Of course he was concerned for her, he was the only one in the country that would be. Felicity stepped inside, still keeping her head down. She was practically staring down at her outfit, a pair of skinny jeans, wedged boots, and an oversized sweater. She didn't exactly want Nik to see the turmoil all over her face, so wiping her face with the palms of her hands was easier. "Jamie..." She started off, "he doesn't love me now..." She told him, trying to get the message across without using google translate. She didn't know the verb for breaking up in English, so she was trying to work around the words. Felicity stood in front of Nik, still standing by the door, "I don't want to be by myself..." She admitted, her accent and the tears in her throat making her almost inaudible. Fe stepped forward and put her arms around Nik, hugging him while she pressed her face into his chest.

Mallory Felicity refused to look at him, which worried Nikolas even more. She kept her head down, refusing to look at him, but he wished to know just exactly what she was thinking. When she spoke, he couldn't help but recognize the distress and heartbreak in her voice. It was only a simple word - or rather a name - but it held so much heaviness, even with her light accent. It made Nikolas scrunch his face in confusion. How could someone make her this upset? Whoever this Jamie was, he wanted to get ahold of him and teach him what happens to people who don't treat his best friend correctly. The name did, however, sound familiar, and he couldn't help but wonder where he had heard it before. Felicity spoke again, this time saying how this Jamie doesn't love her anymore. It all made sense after that. Jamie was the guy that she had been seeing for a while now, except their relationship was long distance, so it was almost if he didn't exist. It bothered Nik, of course, that his crush was dating someone other than him, but it didn't get under his skin as much since the other boy was overseas. Nik listened to her though, and tried to comprehend what level of emotional distress she could be going through. Personally, he had never been in a relationship - his life situation never really gave him the opportunity to be in one - so he didn't exactly know how to comfort her in a time like this. Felicity muttered something soft, almost too soft for him to pick up, but it didn't matter what she had said once she took a step towards him, her arms wrapping around his torso in a tight hug. It took him by surprise, but he put his arms around her shoulders, pressing her close to him. "It will all be okay." He reassured her, resting his chin on the top of her head. This wasn't normally something they did. Hugging wasn't a friendly thing that happened often, but Nik wouldn't deny such an action whenever it did happen. This is what he wanted - minus the whole sadness effect.

(I'm sorry if this is kinda ????????? halfway through writing this we had a fire drill)

Felicity felt a little bit better against Nik, he was warm and very quiet in her ear, but what could be better when she was upset? Jamie had always been the one to pull her out of her shell, but Nikolas had recently been the one that made her feel safe, who made her feel more like herself. He was hugging her back, his arms around her shoulders. The thick accent of his home country was thick in her ears, but she simply shrugged some in his arms. "I do not know..." She said softly. He was trying to comfort her, and for that she should've been thankful, but how was she supposed to feel comfortable when someone that had supposedly cared just dumbed her like yesterday's trash? "I thought he liked me..." She trailed off, her hands gripping onto Nik's back. Felicity didn't think much about just showing up at Nik's apartment, she didn't think he would mind, and she definitely didn't want to be alone at such a time. "Can I stay here?" She asked quietly "Just one night or two..." Fee assured him, her cheeks glowing pink with embarrassment as she tried to wipe away her own tears.

Mallory Nikolas didn't know what to say, or rather how to say it. He hated seeing his friend in tears, especially when it was over some guy that didn't even love her. She deserved the world and this was all she got in return. He lifted his head off of hers whenever she shrugged, but kept his arms around her as she spoke. It crushed his heart to see her like this. His beautiful friend should not have been crying, she shouldn't be clinging to him because of sadness. She should have been happy and full of life, willing to try anything and everything. Felicity's voice held a large amount of grief, and when her hands grasped his back, he knew for sure that this wasn't a moment he needed to process for a long time. Nikolas swiftly pressed his lips to her temple without thinking, a friendly gesture that he didn't do often, and took a step backwards, prying her away from him but still keeping his hands on her shoulders. "Of course you can stay here." he assured her, nodding softly. The last thing she needed was for yet another person to turn her down. "Stay for as long as you need."

Nikolas was such a good friend to her, Felicity felt more tears streak down her cheeks when he assured her that she could stay with him. "Nik, you're such a good friend..." She snuggled, her eyes looking puffy by then, since she'd been crying very hard for a good number of minutes. "Why are you so good to me?" She asked, but really, she was weeping, she didn't expect an answer. He kissed her temple, and honestly, Felicity felt her whole body warm from the action, as if Nik had just pressed some magic unto her skin and healed her. Of course, she was still feeling terrible, but her tears subsided, and she brought her hands up to her eyes, partially to wipe her own tears, but mostly to cover her eyes. She didn't want Nik to see how awful they must've looked. "I know it is silly, but I thought Jamie like the, er, far away relationship. I wasn't expecting this at all." She assured Nikolas, feeling sorry for him more than she did for herself at that point. He probably had no idea how to handle a crying girl, and since Felicity didn't know how to properly handle herself, either, they were both in quite the jam.
