Currently re-reading this book, and it's just as good as the first time around. This is my go-to book whenever I need an awesome space opera that has lots of carnage, a well-developed world, and carnage. I think I already mentioned carnage. Oh well, it bears repeating. This is one of my favorite books, and I've read it several times. XD
I've hit Joshua up for an Awesome Author Interview...[*unsubtle hint...*]
The backstory behind this one sounds really interesting :-)
"Empire Exhile" is great so far the prologue reminded me of "Ender's Game".I really enjoy how the story grabs you from the very beginning and makes you want to keep reading.

I'm in this month. Will give this new (to me) author a whirl. Best thing about book clubs...they expose you to new authors that you might not otherwise be aware of.
OK...so 25% into this book and I'm just not feeling it. The back story and basic concept sounds interesting but the characters are two dimensional and the level of detail insufficient to keep me engaged and reading. I'm disappointed in that I did want to like this book. As an alternative I would suggest the "Exodus Empires at War" series by Doug Dandridge.
I'm with Jason on this. To me, story seems to jump around, with almost pointless battles, that are written more or less just to demonstrate blind luck or mindless berserk like behavior. This would be ok, but the characters remain just that, one or at most two dimensional characters that hardly evolve. I'm usually really hard to loose, when I start with some book, but with this I'm really close on quieting. I'm currently about 2/3 away through with the book. If this kind of storyline is preferred, Exodus series by Doug Dandridge might be the ticket. Also something like Evan Curries Odyssey series might be interesting to this genre.

Live! Run!
[* Also known as "He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day..." *]
...Or will they?
It's not that easy, suckers! Trouble has a way of following wherever the human species goes 3:-) Or at least that's what Joshua Done posits in his military sci-fi thriller, The Exile Empire:
Live. Run. The last message from Central Command was more a plea than an order, and running is exactly what the last remnants of humanity did to escape The Death as Earth was destroyed. Among the survivors is James Ursidae, a fearsome warrior whose despair now outweighs his expectations for the future. After months of drifting through intergalactic space, Ursidae and what humanity remains have found a spark of hope on the planet Lintalla and in the company of its native Illani. Unfortunately, starting anew comes at a price, and even in a strange system violence and war are a constant. A new enemy, the Tarin’Tal, hold the system’s inhabitants in a vice-like grip that continues to tighten. Can Ursidae and the Earthlings burn bright yet again and save their new world from the destruction they’d hoped to leave behind?
