I'm not done with the book yet, but who would you say are flat and round characters? (Flat characters have very little characteristics that are shown, and round characters have a lot.) Also, how do you think these would affect the book? I think if there was more round characters, the book would be more interesting, but then there would be no contrast. Also, how about dynamic and flat characters. (Dynamic characters change, and flat characters don't.) I think no one changed dramatically, it was mostly good guys vs. bad guys. I wish someone would change and maybe start thinking differently about the Mogs. What do you think?

I feel like because there are so many characters, Pittacus Lore is unable to develop every single one, so they are mostly flat. I'm not a huge fan of John, just because he's a very basic character. Nothing distinct about him, no vices, nothing dark. As boring as someone who has superpowers can get. He's probably the flattest, even though the books mainly revolve around him. Six is a stereotype--the badass heroine who is wanted by all the guys. Although there is some backstory to her, she is still more flat than round because of her stereotype. Nine's just a cocky guy, very macho. He forces himself to be flat, in the sense that he never thinks, just acts. This in itself blocks any potential growth. He reminds me of some actual guys I know, which at least makes him realistic. Eight had the potential to be a very well-rounded character, but that was cut short (no pun intended), obviously. But to me, the roundest characters are Marina and Five. Marina is a very innocent and sheltered girl, which explains why she's very peaceful. But when she's faced with tragedy, her reaction is almost the complete opposite and we see a new side to her. She doesn't start as round, it happens as the story develops. And finally, Five. Probably my favourite character, he has the most facets to him. It's hard to figure him out. What does he actually want? He helps the Garde sometimes, even after betraying them time after time. He seems like a traitor, redeemable at times, and just plain crazy at others. His unpredictability makes him a lot rounder since it's hard to figure him out. Hard to tell if he's static or dynamic, though.
