I started this last night. I watched all of the TV series, and promised myself I would wait until the series ended to read the book. Typical Steven King so far. Enjoying it!
I'm about 2/3 through the book. Very different than the TV show, but that's not a bad thing. I like that we get to see the dystopia begin...most books we join AFTER the event - there was a natural or man-made event that threw the normal order into flux, and a dystopian form of government has risen. In Under the Dome we are there from the start - right before the event happens. We get to see how the "masses" come to accept what their crooked politians tell them, how they come to lean on them... and slowly more and more of their civil liberties are taken away.
Big Jim sure is creep!
Any one else read this?

I finally finished this - forgot that Stephen King books tend to be l-o-n-g!
I waited to read this until after the TV show was over. The book & TV show are quite different; however the main characters stay true to their personalities. My goodness - what good casting on the Big Jim Rennie character - he is such a disgusting, vile guy. The guy you just love to hate.
As usual, Steven King creates a world and sucks you right in. You start to really care for these characters. But be careful not to get too attatched - the body count is high in this one.
Loved it & would recommend it!
