Hello! How's everyone doing today? It's getting cold here which is nice because that means it's wear comfy PJ's and sweaters and huddle under blankets all day weather! I love love love this weather!

Its just misty here. I tripped today and I think I ripped something in my ankle. It bloody hurts like hell. I'm sitting wrapped in a blanket with my foot high now. T.T Ateast I've something to read. Today was only a meager 4/10, do not want again.

Oh no!! I'm so sorry you hurt your ankle! That's the worst :/ Maybe put some ice on it? Or take a hot bath to relax it? I like to take hot baths with Epsom salt when I'm not feeling well or my body hurts. The Epsom salt is supposed to help relax the muscles and such. Whatever it does, I know I always feel better after taking one!

Sorry about your ankle! Hopefully you don't have anywhere you need to be and can just relax it.

Sadly, I only have a shower with limited hot water. If I ever get rich enough to buy my own house instead of renting a shack and I'll get myself a huge tub and use it every day. Hot baths are divine and should be on the list of basic human needs. Right next to breakfast, good shoes, and free wi-fi.

I had to do with my foot in a bucket of cold water to prevent swelling and my blanket that just makes everything feel better. I now have my foot on a pillow on the coffee table ^.^ I'll be fine. Its probably not broken anyway and now I have the perfect excuse to sit on the couch all weekend and read :)

Aww man! Not being able to take a bath is the worst! I feel so bad for you! :( And I agree! While I am lucky to have enough of a bath tub to take a bath in, it's not very large and I have a hard time folding my long legs into it. One day I too will have a huge lavish bathtub that I can completely stretch out in and a comfortable place to rest my head. Ahh that sounds lovely. It sounds like you've got it covered when it comes to taking care of it. I hope it heals up quick and you'd better use the weekend to take it easy!! Get lots of R&R (Rest and reading) :)

Yub and watching crappy reality and contest cookshows with my dad who comes to pick me up because he doesn't believe I'll actually stay still for an entire weekend. He has a whole season of Tabatha and Australia Mastershef to catch up too. :) I'm gonna be fine.

yikes!! looks painful but I will admit bruises are a fascinating process haha. and that was sweet of your dad to pick you up lol. it's good to be looked after!

So how's the ankle doing Jenny?

Its in the half yellow and half black stage. Most of the swelling is gone and I'm walking again. :D Its still terribly wobbly though and every misstep hurts.

Haha you sound like me. I'm the type who could be dying on the side of the road and someone would stop to take me to the hospital and I'd just wave them away saying 'Nah, I'm good. Thanks though.'

I will make a fuzz about snoring people and slow wi-fi though. I have my priorities.

Hey man I understand. For me it's loud mouth breathers and people who leave their shopping cart in the middle of the aisle blocking everyone's way while making the seemingly difficult decision of what kind of tomato soup to buy.

Ohhh! Oh yes! Shopping cart blockers! I just jam my trolly against theirs and just cart it out of the aisle to the other side of the mall if I get a chance. (This is most fun when there is a child in there too) When people and personal complain I show them my (foldable) blind person stick and claim an oopsie. My sis is much worse though. She just starts putting everything available out of a nearby rack into the cart (with matcho guys she'll go to the nearest rack with nailpolish and tampons) and walks off. :) Too bad I'm an adult and am expected to behave most of the time though... sometimes though...

Haha that's awesome! Sometimes I will bump into someone's cart but I am too much of a chicken to actually put stuff into their basket. That would be hilarious though! I always just want to look them dead in the eye and just pick their cart up scoot it out of the way and walk off. Or if I'm particularly aggravated, ram the cart into the backs of their ankles. Grocery shopping often gives me road rage.

Me too. I like to go really early in the morning when there is no one there yet and I can shop in silence. I just cant stand in line for 3 millenia waiting on a dude who unpacks with the speed of a sloth high on xannex. Or a mom blocking an aisle with 8 hysterical kids throwing an unison tandrum. I mean, its 2015 woman! What are you doing with 8 of them? And what made you think that taking all 8 of them to the supermarket at saterday afternoon rush-hour was even remotely a good idea?

Ugh I 100% get this! Back before I had a kid and could make my own schedule I would go at about 3 in the morning. Perfect time to go grocery shopping. But now I usually only do my big shopping trips on the weekends when my husband can stay at home with my daughter and I try to run by the store on my lunch break or something if I need to grab a few things. I honestly just despise grocery shopping but it's gotta be done!

Same here. Most grocery shopping is done before first periot or on my way back from a long day at the uni. When I was little my dad would only take the both of us at the same time when we were old enough to behave ourselves. By the time we were 12 dad made us run the "buy forgotten thing errant" on our own.

Haha that's the way to do it! I can't wait for the day where a 4 minute shopping trip doesn't turn into a 15 minute whispered argument with my 5 year old who wants to take off running and pick up EVERYTHING she sees and then try not to look like a horrible parent when I have to bodily drag her to the exit. It's not usually that bad but some days I'm just like come on child! I need 2 things! We can survive this. And then other times she's a total angel and everyone tells me she's such a sweet little girl and I have to resist the urge to laugh and say 'Yeah right!' Being a mom is an insane adventure haha

I remember well the days of having a baby in a carseat in the basket, a toddler in the buggy and a 5 year old in tow. I always did all the shopping so got pretty good at wrangling, but there were days when I thought not buying food and just starving them was a better alternative!

I really enjoy grocery shopping now that I do it all alone and when one of mine offers to go with me it feels more like a date than a chore!

Well that's good! I am definitely excited for that day haha. I love having my girl with me when she feels like behaving because then we just laugh and talk about silly stuff. I do definitely enjoy grocery shopping alone though. I like to put my headphones in and listen to a podcast or jam out to some awesome music!

Ok, I am off to cook dinner for 120 people. I did all the shopping and a little bit of prep yesterday, but dinner is at 7:15 tonight after 6:15 services which will be led by my students. Wish me luck!

I didn't see it until I got to work. I was in the kitchen and people kept coming in to update me. That was so horrid.

Me neither. They broke up the reality show I was watching with "shots fired in paris, more news on other channel" and within half a hour it were 40 dead and bombs in a football station. We switched to bbc news then and kept watching till 2 at night. Hoping that the people in the consert hall would be able to get out. Most of them didn't. I can only imagine wat it must have been like in there. Its like utöja all over again.

It was so sad and scary. They are doing the memorial today. I cannot even imagine how everyone must feel there today. It just breaks my heart and makes me so mad. I just want everyone to be happy and love one another and accept everyone's differences. My heart cannot even fathom holding such hate towards someone I don't even know. It is so terrible. :(

Me neither. And now all the bigots are crawling out of the woodworks and harrasing everyone with even a hint of middle eastern on them. The bastards

Its fine :) My monthly cramps hurt more. I've been walking on it since last sunday because live goes on and I refuse to sit still with my feet up while winter has come and there is so much left to do. But me walking on it has resulted in the blood clots being pushed to the surface of the skin making it look like a monstertruck from MAD MAX ran over it. It looks so cool. C:

Haha well be careful with it anyways!! Nothing in my life is overly exciting. I work Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm and then I come home and switch over to housewife mode and I clean and cook and clean again. Saturday we went over to my sister in law's house and played board games and drank their home brewed beer. And then Sunday I just did housework all day like usual. Nothing exciting. How about you?

Midterms and Christmas are coming up. My roomie found us a flat and the both of us are moving this Christmas and I still have to retake some exams too that I failed earlier. The cat got attacked by a badger which resulted in a fun trip to the vet. Same badger attacked my sis too with all the panic and screaming one might expect. And then there is Sinterklaas coming up (I'm still Dutch despite not living there anymore) so the tradition of suprise (suh-PREE-seh) has to be observed. Which means, secret Santa but wrapping the presents in the most elaborate packaging one can think. I'm building a R2-D2 (with build it blinking panels) with a Sith lord Badger (complete with light-up red eyes) for my sis and friend who also is in on the fun. But its a lot of work and I just wanna crawl under my bed with a pile of good books and don't come out until spring 2016.

Has anyone else already started with holiday preparations?

Lisa, my week is a lot like yours! My work week is Sunday through Thursday, though with some exceptions. I also go right from work on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday to care for my father in law until about 10 on T&T and 8:30 on Sunday.

I am so looking forward to the 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving, but not the cooking that goes with it.

I've been shopping for little things here and there for Christmas since LAST Christmas, but I always do that.

:D Its not that much different as a student. I still run a 50 hour week when it comes to assignments and stuff but being a student allows me to put a lot of the work in the evenings and very early mornings. Otherwise: Monday no class but most group related things are slotted on Mondays. When that's done I go on to my own assignments. Mondays are always late somehow. The library is open to 12:30 at night so I make use of that. Tuesday to Thursday are all 9 to 4 lectures with a hour before it so we can go through the material we should have read but didn't and an hour afterward discussing it and asking questions. So 8 to 5-ish. Then home, food, walk with roomies dog, more homework till 10-ish. Fridays are often cleaning, shopping, dog walking (roomie has her 8 to 5 days on Fridays), repairs, etc etc. In the weekend I either work on assignments if I haven't finished them or read with lots of dog walks in between. :D

We've got Thanksgiving here this year. So not ready. It's my first time hosting and both my family and my in-laws are coming which should make for interesting times. To make things slightly more stressful, my extended family is having its celebration this Saturday so we are heading to my parents' tomorrow for a long weekend/vacation/help mom prep food. And my husband was recently diagnosed with some health problems so that's been stressing me out.

I need to clean before people come to stay and on the one hand I'm like "Oh my gosh! How will I get this done." and on the other I'm like "Calm down and just do what you can. Everyone will still love you." lol. Then there's the whole "Where is everyone going to sleep?" question. Our town home has three bedrooms but two twin beds and a pull out couch. Thankfully my in-laws live close enough they won't be staying over.

I am definitely looking forward to the 4 day Thanksgiving weekend!! Thanksgiving day my husband and I are just going to hang out at home with our daughter unless my hubby decides he wants to go see my family. Probably won't happen but here's hoping. Then Friday night we will be going out to my husband's family farm to spend the weekend for what we call Thanksmas. His whole family gets together and celebrates Thanksgiving on Saturday and then Christmas on Sunday. It's really fun and we all do a gift exchange and such.
Jenny, you make me miss school haha. I really wish I would have stuck with it and finished before I got pregnant. I tried to go back after I had my daughter but we just couldn't afford it. Maybe I'll finish when I'm old haha
Abigail, I'm sorry you're feeling so much stress! And I am sorry for your hubby's health problems. Just take it one day at time and like you said, you're family will still love you! You'll make it just fine!!

Lisa: The perks of living in a socialistic country, education is free (well, nothing is ever truely free but it surely is affordable) :) Come live with us! :)

Though we don't have thanks giving... but we do have Santa Lucia. Which is a pretty awesome holiday too :D

Like Lisa, I wish I had gone to college. Now that my children are at that stage I wish it more than ever! I know people go as adults all the time (I see the commercials!) but it just doesn't seem workable for me. Maybe after mine have graduated and money/time is not as big an issue as it is now.

I'll live vicariously through them. (and Jenny!)

I would in a heartbeat if I were able to Jenny. I'm thankful for the freedom in this country but sometimes I feel like I don't belong here haha.

Man that's a hard one! There are so many things I love and want to learn more about. I think if I could go back and start all over, I would loved to have been an archeologist. I remember wanting to be one when I was so young I couldn't even pronounce the word correctly. I adore history and exploration and learning about different cultures and people and uh it's all just so fascinating. I wanted to travel the world and be touch a dinosaur bone after it had been buried for millions of years. That would have been my dream come true.

I would probably study English and Philosophy. Not for any career goal, but because they are both things I care about. I love to read and write but never seem to do any writing. The youth director at the synagogue is working towards his doctorate in Phenomenology and we have the absolute best discussions. He studied in Copenhagen for two years after attending Pitzer for two and is now finishing up.

I wish I could do THAT!
