For reading books
Books between 100 and 160 pages (100 pages or 25,000 words is the minimum) = 5 points
Books between 161 pages and 350 pages = 20 points
Books between 351 and 500 pages = 40 points
Books between 501 and 650 pages = 60 points
Books between 651 and 800 pages = 80 points
Books between 801 and 900 pages = 100 points
Books over 901 pages = 130 points

For current BOM (Book of the Month) discussions
Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points
Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion) = 20 points
NOTE: We will accept one team member per book per team for writing a days DQs. If, by three days prior to the BOM starting, we don't have enough volunteers to write all DQs, then we will let more than one team member per team write questions. If we have more people than days sign up (prior to 3 days before start date) we will randomise the volunteers to determine those who can write DQs

How to Play
There are 15 quests to choose from.

◈ Books read between November 7 and December 7 count for this mini-challenge

I'm using the book 'Fuzzy Mud' for this example:
When on a books information page, like 'Fuzzy Mud' on the right side of the page is Genres. Click on it. Or under it there is a list of them what the book you read is under. At the bottom of that list is a link called See top shelves... Click on it.

It will open a page Fuzzy Mud > Top Shelves. You will look for named bookshelf in the goal to see if someone has made the shelf and placed the book in there, however it's only for the first page of the top shelves. Some books have 10+ pages of top shelves.

If using a kindle book you can open the book and search for the word. You can do this by:

- Open kindle (fire but any kindle has this feature) book.
Select top left drop window, it will say Library, the books name, about this book, go to, search, sync, before you go.

- Click on search.

- Type in the word you are searching for.

- It will generate if it has the results or not.

You can also do this on the amazon site when opening up a book by click on the "look inside". Then click Print Book, It will open up a text box saying "search inside this book". Type your work here.

If you can't find "look inside" you can search using the preview of a book in Google Books.

This is new to me, too. I was led here by some friends in another group. It sounds like a lot of fun! :) I have a bad habit of signing up for challenges and figuring out how it works as I go along. So I look forward to figuring this out. :)

I run on GMT+8 but I'm nocturnal so I'm mostly around during the evening.

We are allowed to read any book within the required pages (+100). There are are a few restrictions of graphic novels and children's books but that I a word count.

If you sign up for discussion questions for the book of the month, you get 40 points but you have to sign up for it and say for team Sphynx. I signed up for two of them. I encourage other teammates to sign up for it. It is more chances for us to earn points. If you need some assistance in questions give a shout out and I can help. I tend to sign up for all BOTMs. It will give 20 extra points.

Don't get too much on your plate. Just pick what you like. Hope that helps.

I'm reading The Stranger You Seek

Teddie, I looked at The Stranger You Seek. It looks interesting. I put it on my TBR shelf. I'd like to hear what you think about it.

What are the open goals for? i don't get it. haha

Also, can i use one book to achieve two goals? two birds with one stone!

I had a crazy day today. I went to a baby shower and was out from 11 this morning until 6:30 tonight! So I have a book to finish from yesterday. As I understand it, that one can't be counted here because it was started before, right?

Mint, the open goals are about 900 goals that the mods came up with. They have it set up to only have five out at a time. It's randomly picked. Once one is finished another will pop up. Only one book per goal.

I just finished a mystery book that I started once the challenge started. It pumped out a new open goal.

You are correct. Only books that have started 8 hours and 45 minutes ago can be counted. I have a few books I have to finished up too. It's a shame they can't count because a few of them are big paged books.

Good news! I finished my first book for the challenge. , I really liked it. Two of my favorite characters were in it again. Also, the main character Charlie, doesn't seem so shattered from before, but then again, it's been a year since his child and wife were murdered. The ending was kind of sad. I'm looking forward to reading the third book in the series. It's a mystery book and it pumped out the new goal for our open goals.
