To be honest, I have no idea. Even the Harry Potter movies made me fall asleep. I guess I just don't really like books with witches & wizards. I don't know, that's the only book I've ever read like that.
Fair enough. I kinder liked the films when I was younger. A few other people I know don't really like it. Although I am taking my boyfriend to the Harry Potter Studios for Christmas, that will be fun.
Haha, that is a gap! ;)I've read 'em all, started in like 1999 I think so I was still quite young then... I loved the books throughout all of those years when they first came out(only like the first two movies though) so I can only recommend that you guys give them a try at least. Maybe you'll like 'em, maybe you won't, but I think it's worth giving them a chance :)
Yes you may be right. I think I prefer the UK cover.Have you heard about the harry potter play? Supposed to be about Harrys little boy.

Sounds interesting, but it would be lost on me at the moment I think ; )
Annabella wrote: "Ha, I don't think it will do well as a play. Not many people go and see plays nowadays."Part of the 'London experience' is going to a musical / the theater, so it may do ok there
That would be a nice addition to your Harry Potter read. There is a spin off harry potter movie in the cinema next year.
It's a bit of a trek to London for me... but the spin off might be interesting, If I've managed to read the books first ; )
oh I haven't read them either. i worked in a books store for the release of the last 2 books....craziness. pallets and pallets od the same book was overwhelming, im alsi a hige Tolkien fan. its one od my book goals to read them this year. i look forward to sharing about them.
I wish I worked in a bookshop. Seeing all the hype for the books sound exciting.Glad you are joining us. =)

I read the first and really enjoyed it. There are too many books on my Jan to read list but I wouldn`t mind doing a buddy read for#2 later on. Mid Feb maybe
I have so many books on my to read list. I just hope I find the time to read them. What was your favourite part of book 1?
thanks for asking Annabella. I've still only read the first harry potter. I'd be up for reading another at some point, but would prefer to discuss it with someone as I read... Much more fun that way...
I am a bit like that sometimes. My sister reads a lot and I get so excited when she is reading a book I have read.
I don't own any of the Harry Potter books.
Want me to send a message to the group and see if anyone else is reading Harry Potter?

So...
I was wondering if there were other Harry Potter newbies out there who would be interested in reading them together.
I have a GoodReads friend who hasn't read them either and is up for a buddy read (once the local library coughs up a copy) but it would be nice to have a few people involved if possible.
Thought it was worth asking. I know it's something that's pretty hard to own up to...
