Simone has always known that she was adopted. Her parents told her that her biological mother was very young and for them, the opportunity to adopt her was a gift. But when her biological mother wants to meet her Simone has mixed feelings. She is torn apart with the idea of letting her in her life. Her parents are very supportive and do feel that it's important for her to meet Rivka. It's an opportunity for Simone to learn about her heritage especially since her birth mother is Jewish and Simone's parents aren't. Without giving away too much of the story, Simone finally meets Rivka and in the time that they spend together she is able to forgive and to grow as a person. She also learns the importance of family.
I believe that when it comes to adoption, young people react differently to the news and it's a worldwide issue. There are those who want to find their birth parents and there are those who hold a grudge with the idea of someone giving them up...There are a lot of psychological issues that have to be dealt with as we see with Simone.
