I've started The Robber Bride and enjoying it so far. Only a few chapters in but I'm liking Atwood's style. This is my first of her books. I'm in my last few weeks of the semester and am hoping to finish in time for the end of the month!
I love Margaret Atwood's books and consider her to be one of my favorite authors. I have read a number of her books including this one. I read this one back in 2007 (thanks to goodreads, I know that, I don't memorize dates read!!). I enjoyed The Robber Bride. My other favorites are The Handmaid's Tale, The Blind Assassin and Oryx and Crake.
I've read more and I'm hoping she doesn't keep to the "go over the same plot event in three different perspectives/50+pages" mode. Hopefully that's just the intro and character building. I have no patience for a slow plot right now HA! I still need to read The Handmaid's Tale. It's been on my list and I've never gotten around to it.
Apparently, there was a 2007 TV movie version of this book. It starred Mary-Louise Parker as Zenia (for which she was nominated for a prime time Emmy award)

I must be in the minority on this one -- I found all of the characters to be caricatures rather than real people. The fact that the 3 main characters are supposed to be best friends but don't protect each other - that bugged me. I honestly couldn't wait to finish it.
I'm reading one of Atwood's more recent novels now, The Year of the Flood. So far I am really liking it. I read its predecessor Oryx and Crake several years ago so it is not very fresh in my mind. I guess it is a 3 part series.
I read a lot of Atwood when I was younger but I stopped enjoying her at some point and decided to take a break. I'm really enjoying reading her again-I think the break was good for our relationship!

Lisa, I agree with you. And I'm disappointed by such a lack-luster ending. I'm also sick and am not sure of I'll make it tomorrow. Enjoy lunch and conversations if I'm unable to go.
We have a couple too many people for my reservation (which is under my name). It won't let me adjust it online. I'm going to try to call and to get there early to hopefully get us a couple more chairs.
If anyone can't make it, please update your RSVP so that I don't go to battle for additional chairs that we don't need. Thanks!
