Shay and I are doing a buddy read on Obsidian (the first book in the Lux series) by Jennifer Armentrout, anyone is welcome to join. STARTING ON FRIDAY NOVEMBER 20, 2015.

so i just started this book today and im almost halfway through, its really good!! have you started yet?

I'm reading like four different books so I only read the first 5 chapters and the beginning of chapter 6 because chapter 5 left on a Clift hanger lol . I'm going to start on the other book we are reading and I have to find the free version of it . I will update the thread when I read more so check back to see if I read more of the book .
So far I love the way the book is written . It has comedy , and the main characters I've been introduced to have a lot of sass and Attitude and I love it . They are not boring or bland characters .
I'm used to reading a lot of books with a lot of descriptions for the scenes and areas and this book cuts out of all if which is a relief to me . I get tired sometimes of reading descriptions .
It does have a twilight feel tho ( like my favorite book romance story every ). The main character knows theirs something different about the neighbor . she's not a compete dumb ass for sure and it doesn't take her long to realize that . But the good difference between this and twilight is that she doesn't question herself 5027282 times on it
Hopefully this book isn't predictable cause it seems to be matching up with Twilights plot . All the insecure girls love the assholes in the book lol .
I love it so far

So about the main character , is she worried about getting fat or something because she does not like to be called " curvey." And I saw her say if she eats like dameon does . She will gain 5 lbs .But she has to be skinny because dameon says she looks like a 13 year old girl which I found funny . He's a hilarious character .
Another thing I'm trying to figure out is why damson got all up in Katy's face threatening her if anything happened to his sister . I'm right along with Katy , I don't know why he feels she's bad for him.
What are your thoughts so far ?

So I am so glad that we chose this book to read, its quickly becoming one of my new favorites.

I am on the beginning of chapter 17, I don't know what happened I just couldn't stop reading. I will try to slow down and read some other books.

I also think loved Daemon's character, I think he is funny and witty but he can be a serious asshole to Katy sometimes and I don't know if I would put up with it if I were her.

I also think this book is a little bit like Twilight! The character Dee reminds me SOO much of Alice from the Twilight series, just because she is always so bubbly and energetic all the time.

I think it is refreshing to read a book where the main character isn't so self conscience and she is actually smart. She had a head on her shoulders, and she is very independent (which I can totally relate to).

Some of the characters pissed me off, but I will talk to you more about that when you get further into to book.

In the meantime, I WILL BE FANGIRLING OVER DAEMON.

Stop reading so fast I have to catch up! It sounds good tho ! And yes this reminds me too much of twilight

Thanks ! Idk if you ever read the grisha series but the first book is called Shadow and bone and it's the most complicated story I've ever read I got through one chapter , and a preface before it gave me a headache . I had to stop reading for the night

haha, i haven't read it yet but i have heard its really good. Hopefully it will get better!

So I just hit 21. Chapter 20 was really short .
You know this book gives off a damn good twilight ripoff , but the author doesn't fail to take shots at twilight . When Katy find out what here neighbors were , she asked " you don't sparkle do you ". I basically laughed like omg ! Lol
Anyway, I was sure I was going to quit because of how Dameon was acting but actually I'm curious to see what happens . After he saved Katy's life and finally explained , it's understandable why they wouldn't want to get close . But I have no clue what's going to happen and I'm anxious to see but from what my iBooks told me , it's 7 books in this series . 7 books of what ? Is he just going to be saving her for another 7 books since they can't get married or is it going to be another damsel in distress ? So I don't know why they would stretch this story out more then 2 books , but I guess k will have to keep reading to see .
What I love about this book is how different it is from twilight . Katy isn't a really a damsel in distress , she has attitude , and sass and can think for herself .shes a strong character and I like it .
Another question how old is Katy and them supposed to be in high school ?What grade ?

Where are you at in the book? Have you finished it ? are we reading this series ? If you finished it and we are reading the series I will finish it tonight .

I think Katy is a senior in high school, but I don't think they have mentioned what grade she is in. All I know is that they are in high school, she could be a freshman for all I know but I seriously doubt it.

I did finish the book, just because I couldn't put it down I had to see how I tended! But you don't have to rush finishing it if you have other books to read. I am going to try to finish one more book then pick up the next one in this series, and I would love to continue doing a buddy read with you on the series. But only if you want to and only if you are enjoying reading it.

I thought there were only going to be 5 books in the series but I could be wrong, I will double check that.

I hated the way that Daemon talked to Katy and the way that he treated her, and that kind of gets explained at the end. But at the same time I think he can be so sweet and so cute, so I am conflicted with my thoughts about him.

I will finish it tonight then . I'll let you know if I want to continue reading , but I'm pretty sure I will . And you are right , she is a senior in high school because dee and her mom were trying to get her to pick out colleges .
I'm skipping over to read some more of daughter of smoke and bone at least 10-15 chapters . I wrote some on the thread about what I read yesterday .

JESUS YOU DIDNT TELL ME THIS NEAR SEX SCENE WAS THAT WELL DESCRIBED! I'm on chapter 27 jumping up and down!!! They finally kissed ! Bout time lol

lol!! i know it took them forever to finally kiss and when they do its like CRAZY

I'm finished ! I can see they are really going to stretch it out considering the way the book ended .im glad they didn't make a whole love story develop with one book like twilight it's really stretched out and it keeps me reading and wondering .
I wonder how it would work because of the circumstances between Katy and dameon.
Thank god I know where to get the books for free . I'm ready to read the next one !!

It was I'm so glad you recommended it to me ! I'm really glad they didn't make their love story develop in one book! It was a good book ! I couldn't give twilight 5 stars but this was a good book I can't stop saying it .
We can start on the next one in the next 2-3 days . Gives me a chance to knock out the other books I'm reading . December is coming and I'm doing the December 3 in one challenge and the December reading challenge and another challenge . I just love reading lol
