Some a the best Simpsons episodes are the metafictional recreations of great books, etc.

Imagine The Simpsons performing an episode based upon The Wake. HEC=Homer ; ALP=Marge ;; Moe=HEC-in-guise-of-tavernkeeper : ETC.

It's almost too good. Bart as Shaun, Lisa as Shem (the penman) and little IssyMaggie (there's even a Maggie!)

And imagine the Twelve! So many possibilities....

In the other direction the 20+ seasons of The Simpsons could be read as already a recreation of The Wake.
