Jolene | 4 comments Ok, so I'll pop the groups cherry. Block 24 was an emotional read tied to a devastating time in history. It is so different from my usual reads as you can tell from my reading list ( except for a few that are about the holocaust). Yet, it's one of my favorites. How did you come to write this story. What made you decide that, that time in history was the perfect building ground for this amazing story.

Robin | 1 comments I was hoping I could add to Jolene's post? I was curious as to why you chose to write about a Holocaust survivor? Do you know someone that was a Holocaust survivor?

Jolene | 4 comments I have read a few stories about holocaust survivors, and they were all amazing. This one was right up there with them. So do tell Ms. Tyler, inquiring minds want to know. :)

Okay...so...what made me write about the Holocaust...honestly, an obsession I've had with the Holocaust since the fifth grade, when one of my classmates brought in her grandfather, a Holocaust survivor. I remember him saying that there was no level of cruelty that we could think of that hadn't been done to prisoners in the concentration camps. He said that any way we could imagine that people were killed, they were killed. That stuck with me for so long. I originally wrote Block 24 as a short story several years ago. It was at first titled "Auschwitz." But with more research, it grew from there.

Jolene | 4 comments Evan, I am the same as you, I have had an obsession reading and learning as much as I could about the holocaust. Do you yourself read books that have the same topic. I would love to suggest a couple of books that I thought were phenomenal reads.
