A cherished book you once lent to someone and never got back? A favourite book you managed to misplace but can't remember when or how? Share your sad tales here...

Neelam | 7 comments A book on the Beatles, it had their biographies, song scripts in their handwriting and life spanning photographs, it's front pages were missing so I never knew the name, l had read it when I hadn't heard much of their songs, then our house was flooded one year and it was along with many others defaced beyond redemption. I miss it.

Neelam, this is really very sad. Was the flood bad? Where was this? Do you think you can search in libraries to look for a copy of this book?

Neelam | 7 comments Hi debarati,
Yeah the flood was pretty bad and uncommon in our area. Actually punjab govt was celebrating golden jubilee year of bhakhra dam then in1988,they filled it to the most in monsoons but in October it rained for three continous days, and it developed cracks in the dam, they had no option but to open the flood gates and all the areas falling near satluj river were deep in 6 feet water overnight. We live almost five hundred miles from the dam but satluj flows nearby hence the flood.
Unfortunately I was expecting my daughter at that time so was away at my parents place.
All my photo albums, books and college degrees were defaced, anyway I was not able to get over it for a long time cos I could not buy back my diaries , photographs etc with money.
Anyway I keep looking for it in stores but have not succeeded so far cos I don't remember the exact name.
It feels nice to share my feelings with you.

Neelam,

Thank you so much for sharing this very personal experience with us here. Yes, photographs and diaries cannot be bought once lost. Hope you've managed to get duplicate copies of your certificates.

Why don't you write a book based on your experience Neelam? Have you ever thought about it?

message 8: by Neelam (new)

Neelam | 7 comments Yeah, I have been thinking of it, but lack the drive cos of being an introvert. Why don't you start threads about sharing different phases of our lives, that would give us all chance to get to know each other, anyway I am fifty, been a student then wife and mother all these years now trying to pick up the threads from where I left them, back to my hobbies like reading, writing and music.
