Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Who will be reading Uprooted by Naomi Novik?

This thread started early to give members a chance to get the book.

Bill | 337 comments I read this a few months back and really enjoyed it. Loved the fairy tale feel of it.

Lindsey | 124 comments Read it back when it was first published. Tremendously fun! Look forward to discussing it.

Tracey the Lizard Queen I read this a few weeks back, didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else seemed too, but looking forward to hearing what others make of it.

This is lovely, I really enjoyed it.

Margret I was also one of those people who didn't love it. I just didn't connect with the characters...

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) I've been meaning to read this one for ages and just have it sitting on my shelf so YAY I'm excited.

Heather (bruyere) We read this as a buddy read (thanks Tracey!)and I loved it but I know some didn't connect with it, so will be interesting!

Katy (kathy_h) I loved this book.

message 10: by Amy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Amy Sanderson | 129 comments Ooh, such a mixed series of responses from you guys! Seems to be one of those books that's either 'loved it!' or 'meh'. Maybe because the characters are quite young? (I'm only guessing on that one, but some places are categorizing it as YA, so.)

Fingers crossed I can read it in December. It's very much stuck on hardcover prices here in the UK; even the Kindle version is quite expensive right now. :(

Monica Davis This will be an interesting discussion...looking forward to it. I'm in the camp with Tracey and Margret.

I wouldn't call it YA as there is sex in it. I think people just call anything with a young person YA and because it is based of a Polish fairytale.

message 13: by Tara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tara (tarabookreads) I just started with it and I'm already liking it..

Layla ✷ Praise the sun ✷ I'm excited to read this, the story sounds interesting and I'm already liking the first few pages.

Kevin | 121 comments Great book! Looking forward to the discussions

message 16: by Lena (new)

Lena Grover Just got a sample on my Kindle since people seem to have very mixed opinions on this one. Seems promising based on the description and some of the reviews I've read. Looking forward to checking it out!

message 17: by Tara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tara (tarabookreads) I am almost 40% into the book and have a small issue with the writing style of the author. I am enjoying the story, but I noticed that the author uses a lot of dashes "-" in the middle of long sentences. And if there are two then what's in between them is another long sentence. Did anyone notice that?

message 18: by Kerry (new) - added it

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) Been meaning to read this for about two months but, as I said on The Goblin Emperor post, I'm feeling slumpy so can't get into anything right now. Hopefully I'll pick it up again in January instead.

Lára | 479 comments I´ve seen so much praise for it that I don´t want to even touch it.

Is anyone else listening to the audiobook? The accent is SO distracting!

Monica Davis Giorgia wrote: "Is anyone else listening to the audiobook? The accent is SO distracting!"

Yay, Giorgia! Nice to see you here. I listened to the audible sample before I read the book, and knew I wouldn't enjoy listening to an entire story with that narrator.

Hi Monica :) :)
I should have done the same! I don't actually hate the book, but whoever thought it was a good idea to read the book with such a thick accent deserves all of their left socks to go missing in the washing machine!

Monica Davis lol..and holes in their right socks!

Heather (bruyere) There are a lot of negative comments about the accent on Audible so I went for the ebook.
