I know this was a group read, but since this book is a monster and I'm a slow reader, Daniel and I decided to buddyread it. If there's anyone else out there who didn't finish or wants to join in feel free.
What did you think of the Vegas section? It was one of my favourite parts of this book, and I was left wondering how accurate do you think it was. Is life really like that for lots of kids there. I loved Boris as well, I don't know how Theo would of coped without him.
They are bad for it and the drinking as well. Its such a big shock for Theo, he was sheltered growing up but he was getting into things in new York before his mum died. The robbing with Tom for one. He kind of lived in his own head a lot even then, and Vegas made him worse. His worry over the painting doesn't help either.
Yes. I see where u both are coming from. Regardless, Theo prob would have gotten into those things anyway. For him it happened at a younger age because there was no supervision and no structure. Its just sad to see Theo and Boris hit rock bottom so early. They haven't even lived! The abuse that Boris endures is sickening. I really hope someone can reach out to these boys.
Does Theo even now anything about his grandparents? I'm not sure he does. Its good he takes the little dog with him when he runs back to NY. At least he knows there's some financial support waiting for him and his dad was really low wasn't he? I think he only took Theo in because he wanted the money.
We are around the 30% mark.
