Colie's has a mom who has become a fitness guru and celebrity after living a life of obesity. Colie also lost 45 pounds thanks to her mom’s motivation personality, but she still fights the insecure feelings she had as an overweight outcast. At the age of 15 Colie is sent to her aunt Mira’s in a small seaside town in North Carolina for the summer, while her mother goes on an extended tour of Europe. Colie soon finds out her aunt is the talk of the town, and not in a good way. She is a bit eccentric and is also overweight. Colie finds some unexpected friendship in the form of two girls Isabel and Morgan, who work the local diner, and Norman, an artist seeking his own way in life. Through some class-clashes with a snooty girl from school who just happens to summer in the area, and a make-over that transforms Colie both physically and mentally, the lessons unfold in this story. The reader will see some people who are comfortable in their skin and others who aren’t, and define inner beauty and strength.
