They may or may not "sell" books, but they give a new dimension to your work. Oftentimes they get the reader even more excited about your book and influence them to buy it. Its almost like bringing your cover to life.

Do you guys and gals think book trailers are helping your marketing effort for your book? Was it worth the time and energy that you put into creating it?

Its sometimes hard to say if one specific thing is helpful to your results, but it can't hurt. In my opinion, ANYTHING that promotes your book in any way is helpful. Trailer take little effort. Its like asking if a commercial is effective. You can't really monitor its effectiveness unless you have some kind of discount offer or something if they mention the trailer in their order on your site. Just a thought.
