Sounds great!
Why don't we discuss one in May and another in August? I was thinking of starting with one of these three:
1. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
2. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...
3. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Any preferences?
There is also an existing discussion here:

I would also recommend Mike Myatt's excellent and new (Dec. 2013) book, HACKING LEADERSHIP. Hacking Leadership: The 11 Gaps Every Business Needs to Close and the Secrets to Closing Them Quickly
Great - thanks Terry!
Given we have a couple of suggestions, I propose that we allow May for suggestions and commence a discussion in June on the book/author that has the most support, with the next 'most popular' in July and so on...
So in this case we have 2 votes for anything by John Maxwell and 1 vote for Mike Myatt's latest book.
Get all your friends voting for what we should discuss in June by posting their vote here!!!

I'm interested in either author. Maxwell is a great and informative author but gaining a different perspective is always valuable.
I am a fan of Maxwell too. But I recently read a book by a Danish author about happiness at work which I loved. I recommend to take a look: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
With 11 days of May left for voting, we now have the following votes:
3 for anything by Maxwell
2 for Hacking Leadership
1 for Happy Hour is 9 to 5
We also have Steven's offer of his book for free to read and discuss - vote here if you would like to discuss that too.
I've counted Zack's vote for 2 books, so feel free to vote for more than one!
At this stage the results would see us discussing Maxwell in June, Myatt in July and Kjerulf in August.
The link to Steven's offer ois here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Is this really happening because I am interested. I am just wondering if it is possible to have a discussion on this website when people don't come as often as I think they do. The last few posts were in the beginning of Apr/May. Perhaps if everyone has a google doc or an email that would be more real-time?Also, how long are these discussions going to be a month long per book?
Welcome Sergio. This group was pretty quiet but since April this year we have gradually been building more interest and more discussions.
If you would like to start a discussion on any book, you can do so without waiting for the timetable outlined here. Goodreads usually prefers discussions on the website rather than side discussions via Google docs or emails.
Looking forward to future discussions!

I am going to jump on Twitter and promote the group today... see if we can get some more folks to join in this summer!
I know a few people are reading Steven's book that he kindly offered for free - we could start with discussing that right away? Sergio seems keen to get started!
ok that sounds good, I can start tonight if possible and I can get something going. Sounds good. Does everyone here read on a tablet format? or by a computer? just curious.
Hello Everyone! Glad to be part of this group.I would like to nominate David Ferrers' most recent leadership book for our group to read. David E. Ferrers
This leadership book is unique because it has been written as an entertaining novel.

Wow, never heard of that one before. Just picked it up for my Kindle. I'll check it out!
As we will be moving on to discuss a new book in August, I would like to get an indication of people's preferences. At his point we have the following votes:
3 for anything by Maxwell
2 for Ferrers' Ignite Your Inner Leader: Inspire Teams, Optimise Results
2 for Hacking Leadership
1 for Happy Hour is 9 to 5
Perhaps we can vote on this existing list for now!

Looks good! We always use the runner ups next time. I look forward to discussing the next book chosen!
I am sticking to john maxwell. Maybe we should read the books in order as they were voted! Just an idea.
I'm happy to go with that. Given there are quite a few Maxwell books, we could go with the one that selects from a number of his works!
Unless anyone objects, in August we will therefore discuss:
Motivated to Succeed: Inspirational Selections from John C. Maxwell
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Note also that James has a discussion on the 21 Irrefutable laws of leadership in this forum already.

Sounds good! I have the book in my collection. I have read the 21 irrefutable laws i will check out what James had to say.
I am a certified coach with the John Maxwell Team, and a Maxwell fan for years. the best place to start with John's writings is The 21 Laws of Leadership. This book houses the whole of John's leadership philosophy. His other works would then take you deeper into specific areas.
Jay wrote: "I am a certified coach with the John Maxwell Team, and a Maxwell fan for years. the best place to start with John's writings is The 21 Laws of Leadership. Surprised at how much additional good stuff he added. He definitely made some great changes , consolidated some laws, added others and added the test at the back to help you figure out where you might want to focus which I thought was a nice touch.
I've actually been digging deep into "Developing The Leader Within" and surprised this time around how helpful that book probably is to people starting out in leadership. There was stuff I was trying to coach someone on with why they felt like their team was showing up, but it was pulling teeth to do it, and they weren't really producing. Reading when he describes how people often skip the 2nd level(permission) and try to jump to the 3rd level(production) of leadership felt right on the money. Going from Position(level 1) to Production(level 3) and not building permission/relationship(Level 2), which may or may not sound obvious but he puts it really well there.

Hi all: I haven't suggested my book on leadership structure because there is not e-book version ready. It was recently in a Giveaway campaign with Goodreads as a hardback. Would you be interested in it for the purposes of this group if it were in electronic form? you can see it on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Leaders-First-S... The title is Leaders First: Six Bold Steps to Sustain Breakthroughs in Construction. It is a business fable set in the construction industry, but the leadership design issues are applicable to all types of organizations and industries. Oh by the way, it won a couple of awards.
Gene
Thanks Sandra, Balazee and Gene for the suggestions.
Thanks Gene for the offer - when we get a few more people interested in contributing to our discussions, we would definitely be interested.
