This group goes beyond SFF to discuss the metaphysical/spiritual aspects of novels. And yes, we chat! Got a relevant subject you'd like to discuss?

What could be more important than the metaphysical/spiritual aspect of our lives and the terrible history of our political world?Quantum Venus & the Magic Theatre tackles this dilemna we find ourselves in. It's on kindle. I hope you'll read and rate it. I long to feel the validation of a response.

I think our books are certainly our way of chatting with others, making real connections of mind, heart, and spirit. Ellen Moss

Hi Ellen. Saw you are looking for the validation of a response. Is your book on Goodreads? I couldn't find with a quick search. Usually helps to provide a link when you mention a book and something about it that will generate some interest. Just saying.
Hi Victor, Thank you. My book is only on Kindle. It is an illustrated, metaphysical space opera. I wrote a good three sections on the nature of death, resurrection, and transcendence. It's $2.99 and worth it!
Hello everyone! It is lovely to meet you all.
I was drawn to this group by its very name...
My (real) name is Star and I have been a sci-fi/fantasy reader since I was aged 7. The late, great author Ray Bradbury is among the top five writers who inspired me in wanting to be a writer myself. To my mind, there is nothing that can equate the mind of a true visionary.
At present, I am halfway through the creation of a fantasy-fiction novel which also delves heavily into the metaphysical, the spiritual, the alchemical, the elements, even herbs to a degree. However, I choose to speak of the details of my works-in-progress little to not at all on the boards. It is more 'comfortable' for me that way (if I may put it like that).
I have extensive knowledge and experience in spiritual and metaphysical matters.
I like Jonathan's idea about dedicating a thread to discuss the spiritual aspects of certain books.
While I am not a registered Jedi (or even a "Star Wars" fan--I know--shame on me! ;))--apparently, I do believe in and happen to practice--some of their concepts regarding spirituality (which I just had explained to me ;). This is because they are pertinent to who I am (as a soul) and many of them are all-encompassing and are not specific to Jedis...Indeed, they have existed for thousands of years.

I used to think that only art can save the world. But, now I feel that without reverence toward the unseen realities, nothing will ever change.

I agree with you on this, Elle.
I agree with you on this, Elle.
Hi Elle--In answer to you question re posting a link to Goodreads, your book has to be listed in Goodreads first. (With the info you gave above re Kindle, I was able to find it finally on Amazon and inserted a link to it here --just for fun. You have to know the HTML code for a hyperlink to do that in a comment.) Use the Author Program to put your book on Goodreads. Hope this helps.

Your enthusiasm will be a welcome addition to our group.
Victor, Star, Jonathan, It is lovely to meet all of you. Victor, thank you for your active interest. I don't think I have an HTML code...for a hyperlink to do that in a comment. Use the Author Program...This is all new language, new vocabulary for me and I'll be a while at the doing of it. Thanks again for the link. Everyone, of course, is more than welcome to check out my story of the Quantum Venus and her foray into the Magic Theatre. I long for some feedback, some response to it. I illustrated it. Check out the cover. I'll be looking at the Visionary Fiction Alliance website.
Thank you again!
hello to all the new folks! I second Vic's invitation to check out the Visionary Fiction Alliance which was born from this list of Visionary Fiction authors here at Goodreads.
Hi friends, I write Pursuit following an inspired idea. It follows three interconnected journeys through time as they discover the inner being, meeting some mystical dragons on the way.Elle, the link to your book can be added by clicking on the add book link just above the comment box.
Happy to discuss VF and be introduced to other books and authors of this genre.
Q. Would you consider Cloud Atlas as Visionary / Metaphysical fiction?
The illustrated QUANTUM VENUS & the Magic Theatre cannot be found on this site. I've published it only to Kindle. Do you know if Goodreads links to Kindle?
Elle wrote: "The illustrated QUANTUM VENUS & the Magic Theatre cannot be found on this site. I've published it only to Kindle. Do you know if Goodreads links to Kindle?"Hi Elle and all. I'm new to this group. Elle, you need to set up your book on Goodreads (or someone does) for it to appear here. It is very easy to do and I highly recommend it for the exposure. (Amazon bought Goodreads last year and I believe soon they will be linked) You likely want to start by setting up an author page. This helps you get exposure too. Then, whenever you connect with people you can include a link to your book page, like mine. Here's an example.

Hello, all! Great little group, here. Looking for book bloggers to read my metaphysical books converting to Kindle: "Karmic Relief" , about my 4 NDEs and how they changed my life; "Seas of Consiousness", about a new code of awareness; "The d-Factor", the missing piece of understanding manifestation; and "Mommy, Where Do My Thoughts Come From?", a view of consciousness from the point of view of 12 children, a paradigm of thought processes. For now, Karmic Relief and Mommy, are complete. Any suggestions? Thanks! (Happy to include an excerpt or two for you to peruse when you can)
Gary wrote: "Hello, all! Great little group, here. Looking for book bloggers to read my metaphysical books converting to Kindle: "Karmic Relief" ,..."Welcome, Gary. From your titles and descriptions, your body of work sounds interesting. My own reading list is currently backed up, but suggest you post your request also on the Visionary Fiction Alliance's Facebook list.
Perhaps IANDS (International Assn. For Near Death Studies) would be an appropriate outlet for "Karmic Relief." I am a member of our local unit and find it stimulating.
Hello to All,I'm still learning what visionary fiction is. I'm intrigued and curious about this genre. I understand the focus is on enlightenment of spirituality (forgive this generalization), and I'm wondering if my writing fits into this category. I do love to read books on enlightenment and have many nonfiction titles on my shelf (I loved the Emmanuelle Books, Pat Rodegast and reread them once a year). I especially love when the spiritual is blended with science: Fred Allan Wolf and Lynn McTaggart books, What the Bleep Do we Know. But fiction is another realm for this, isn't it?
May I ask ... My novel, The Dazzling Darkness, deals with enlightenment through the powers of a quartz crystal skull. However, there is a very liberal and radical Christian element in the storyline. (Not "Christian fiction" by that standard at all, if you know what I mean. Actually quite the opposite.) I wonder if the liberal Christianity element disqualifies the book as visionary fiction. My other novel is Night Sea Journey, A Tale of the Supernatural and deals with angels and demons (again, a very liberal Christian element is present). How do I discern if my books fit into the visionary fiction genre? Thanks.
Paula

Night Sea Journey, A Tale of the Supernatural
Hi Paula,We have a wonderful definition that helps you categorize novels as Visionary Fiction at the Visionary Fiction Alliance, as you likely already know. ( the alliance born out of this Goodreads group!) http://www.visionaryfictionalliance.w...
I would say that enlightenment is not what defines VF - although it can be part of what VF authors include in their stories. It is more about expanding consciousness and awareness to include other realities, dimensions, paranormal, the invisible and unseen that is inherent but not always acknowledged in our hearts, bodies, and souls. The latest blogs on the VFalliance site are exploring just what is the role of spirituality in VF. I think those may be of help in answering your question as well.
blessings!
Beneath the Hallowed HillHi Paula,You're a crystal skull fan? I met Max in Hawaii in 1997 and have had many adventures with him and Joanne. My husband co-wrote a book with David Hatcher Childress about the skulls. I put Max in my novel _Beneath the Hallowed Hill_. Just a cameo appearance. I'll have to check out your book.
Theresa
Oh my, that's impressive. I love crystals and love to read about the science behind the quartz energy, so yes, I am a crystal skull fan. Your book Beneath the Hallowed Hill sounds fascinating. Will check it out for sure!
I'm so glad to find this group. My book "Guardian of the Light" falls into this category and I've had so much trouble marketing it because it doesn't really fit into mainstream genres on many advertising sites. I think there are a lot of people who are seekers and thinkers outside of the mainstream. So it's nice to connect with everyone!~D
Welcome D. I also invite you all to take a look at the Visionary Fiction Alliance
website where you will find many like-minded authors and some interesting discussions on promoting your Visionary Fiction work.
Hi - I'm brand new on here and found this group through the Visionary Fiction Alliance (which I also only stumbled on today and joined). I write genre fiction, mostly SF and fantasy, and have a pretty long/big series that *I* think of as being pretty metaphysical (lol), but I have no idea if others would see it that day. Regardless, I've long been looking for a community that wants to tackle these kinds of subjects, since it tends to be what I like to write/think about, even if I couch it in a fair bit of action, romance, sex and so on...
For those interested in more about me, here's my website: http://www.jcandrijeski.com/
Here's the Allie's War website: http://www.allieswarseries.com/p/new-...
Looking forward to checking out all of the books on here! At some point, I would LOVE to pull together a bundle of metaphysically-themed books, too, would be very cool.
In the meantime...waves to all. : )
JC
Welcome JC to the discussion group and to the VFA. You will find us to be a pretty decent collection of like-minded writers who feel we can make the world a bit of a better place with Visionary and Metaphysical Fiction. Jump in and enjoy.Vic
Hello everyone, I'm a new member of this group and so I would like to shortly introduce myself. My name is Iva Kenaz and I love to read and write visionary stories full of mystery, esotericism and spirituality. I also enjoy mythology, legends and historical fiction.I'm very excited to be here, thank you for this group!
Welcome Iva. Your work sounds intriguing, including your recent post on sacred geometry, a fascinating subject. Your participation will be welcome to over at the Visionary Fiction Alliance as well.
Oh, great, thank you! The blog is based on my dissertation paper which I hope to turn into a book one day. I'm glad you find it interesting.
I’ve been hanging out in the Time Travel group but, given they don’t really get the gist, that reality is no longer conducive & so I’ve backed off, wandering anew.Who knows what the Future holds?
Perchance I’ll find a better home here; I hope so.
I do this:

Victor, I never saw your last message until this moment. Thank you so much for your interest and action. Unfortunately I'm severely tech challenged. Though you sound clear about my posting my book to Goodreads, I have no idea how to do it or what you're explaining.
Which site is best for marketing Visionary Fiction genre books? Any thoughts? Many of the sites such as eReader News Today, Booksends, even BookBub have Religious or Christian categories in which to advertise but nothing for New Age/Metaphysical/Visionary. How do we reach our readers? I tried advertising in a New Age magazine but, to my surprise, it didn't do well. Hmmm. Any thoughts?
Dear D,That's the $64,000.00 question. If you find the answer please let me know. Although I write visionary fiction, I do so neither for fame nor fortune. However, if I can get some of my work out to interested readers that would be nice.
Have you joined the Visionary Fiction Alliance? If you have a website I think you can join. Not having a website, I am not a member. I have mixed feelings about that site anyway.
Peter, I've contacted some of the promo sites and requested that they add the category Spiritual/Visionary fiction to their genre lists. They usually seem to have Christian or Religious fiction available or sometimes Religious/Inspirational. I pointed out that Visionary fiction has a large niche readership that is being underserved. It'd be nice if those readers could find our books.
Did not hear back favorably. One site asked me if I was asking as a reader or author and I said both. BookBub said they'd send the suggestion to their editors.
We're Visionary Fiction Authors, thus, we remain hopeful. When your book is meant to be discovered it will be. I stopped concerning myself with this issue a long time ago. I'd certainly like to be read, but I no longer obsess over it. Surrender is a chief ingredient of the Spiritual Path. All the best to you D.
Pete
O my dear friend Howard, I miss you.Speaking of missing things, everyone on Goodreads should read all 3 books you've written in the "Elastic Limit" series. If they don't indulge themselves in that magnum opus, they'll never truly know what they're MISSING.
Pete, fortuitous:I'm field testing the newest repairs to my Time Machine for the next week or so, however, as you already know, if I'm successful no one will be aware of the fact, ha.
Time Travel has perks, thanks for your kind words my friend from another Age, it's been too long. Send me something you've penned and I'll smile.
