Just Literature discussion

A strong story line, heavily plot-based, believable and interesting characters plus maybe set in a world that we know about but are not really familiar with. Oops, ending a sentence with a preposition! Also, there has to be real jeopardy for the protagonist(s). I think every great adventure story from R J Stevenson to the present has these elements.
