Let me brag about my books:
Genre:romantic fantasy with time travel, magical powers, ancient secrets and unusual love story
Ilona has been in love with her unsuspecting best friend, when a dashing stranger explodes into her life. The sudden magnetic feeling frightens her. Will he break her heart, or will he bring true happiness? She is an emergency room doctor, born into an ancient tribe which still exists hidden amongst us with its fiercely enforced rules. She doesn’t know much about her heritage besides legends and rituals. She begins to remember the forgotten instructions concealed as rhymes and discovers that she can rearrange the human body to its healthy state. This ability is exciting as well as frightening. She is conflicted between having confidence in her intelligence and inherited abilities while having no confidence as a woman. Her insecurity created barriers which keeps others out, and also keeps her caged in. A sinister dark man appears, Ilona connects his presence with the series of mysterious deaths around her. The growing magical abilities within her in the strange world of the Huns are beyond her wildest dreams. She can use her given gifts for absolute good or absolute evil; the choice is up to her. Ilona is determined to control and guide her own life. Resourceful and daring, she crosses the line and breaks the sacred rules. She must face the consequences as she starts fitting the puzzle pieces together and discovers the ancient tribal secrets that not only can change her future, but the future existence of the Huns as well. She has been evacuated from her easy and steady life, and is forced to face the unknown.
Also available in two separate books:
I'd also like to brag about my Read for Animals project:
I was thinking about how to help animals in shelters and in animal hospices other than donating money I could afford. What can I do as a writer to help animals in need? I had an idea. I'm a writer; I can write, sell the book and donate the money - after publishing fees - to animal shelters. I started putting together the short stories I have written the past few years and asked my animal lover author, poet and artist friends if they'd like to participate in my Read for Animals project. The response was overwhelming, the stories and poems started flooding in and together we made this book possible to help our furry, scaly and feathered friends.
-Erika M Szabo
Some of the stories we put together in this anthology will make you laugh out loud; others will warm your heart and perhaps make you cry. Some stories are true and the fantasy stories will make you think, what if? Each author and poet brings their unique writing style to this anthology for a good cause. Enjoy the book, and thank you for helping our furry, scaly and feathered friends in need by purchasing this book.

A brief blurb:
Seven years ago, I found myself, bruised and broken, standing at my grandmother's door, preparing the one and only lie I'd ever tell her. I couldn't tell her how I had truly come by those bruises. I couldn't tell her HE did it. I couldn't be that cliche. She took me in. Fixed me. Advised me. Now, I live in her house and run her coffee shop in the best place in the world, Balboa Island. This island, the locals... everything was predictable... right down to the weather, just the way I liked it - no surprises. When she passed, she left it all to me.
It was my safe haven, my happy place.
Until...
Max came back.

A Universe On the EdgeRARITY FROM THE HOLLOW. Robert Eggleton. Fatcat Press. eBook Published 2014.
Lacy Dawn is a little girl who lives in a magical forest where all the trees love her and she has a space alien friend who adores her and wants to make her queen of the universe. What’s more, all the boys admire her for her beauty and brains. Mommy is very beautiful and Daddy is very smart, and Daddy’s boss loves them all.
Except.
Lacy Dawn, the eleven year old protagonist, perches precariously between the psychosis of childhood and the multiple neuroses of adolescence, buffeted by powerful gusts of budding sexuality and infused with a yearning to escape the grim and brutal life of a rural Appalachian existence. In this world, Daddy is a drunk with severe PTSD, and Mommy is an insecure wraith. The boss is a dodgy lecher, not above leering at the flat chest of an eleven-year-old girl.
Yes, all in one book.
Rarity From The Hollow is written in a simple declarative style that’s well- suited to the imaginary diary of a desperate but intelligent eleven-year-old – the story bumping joyfully between the extraordinary and the banal.
The central planet of the universe is a vast shopping mall, and Lacy Dawn must save her world from a menace that arrives in the form of a cockroach infestation. Look again and the space alien has made Daddy smart and happy – or at least an eleven year old girl’s notion of what a smart and happy man should be. He has also made Mommy beautiful, giving her false teeth and getting the food stamp lady off her back.
About the only thing in the book that is believable is the nature of the narrative voice, and it is utterly compelling. You find yourself convinced that “Hollow” was written as a diary-based autobiography by a young girl, and the banal stems from the limits of her environment, the extraordinary from her megalomania. And that’s what gives Rarity From The Hollow a chilling, engaging verisimilitude that deftly feeds on both the utter absurdity of the characters’ motivations and on the progression of the plot.
Indeed, there are moments of utter darkness: In one sequence, Lacy Dawn remarks matter-of-factly that a classmate was whipped to death, and notes that the assailant, the girl’s father, had to change his underpants afterward because they were soiled with semen. Odd, and often chilling notes, abound.
As I was reading it, I remembered when I first read Vonnegut’s “Cat’s Cradle” at the age of 14. A veteran of Swift, Heller, and Frederick Brown, I understood absurdist humour in satire, but Vonnegut took that understanding and turned it on its ear.
In the spirit of Vonnegut, Eggleton (a psychotherapist focused on the adolescent patient) takes the genre and gives it another quarter turn. A lot of people hated Vonnegut, saying he didn’t know the rules of good writing. But that wasn’t true. Vonnegut knew the rules quite well, he just chose to ignore them, and that is what is happening in Eggleton’s novel, as well.
Not everyone will like Rarity From The Hollow. Nonetheless, it should not be ignored.

Hello,
This book sounds interesting. I will check it out. In my first mini-memoir book, I have a brief story in there about abuse, not to me, but to someone I love dearly. If you read it, you will see how far-reaching an experience like that is and what impact that had on me. You can check my book out on www.amazon.com. It is also my first book.
What do you think about this free ebook period as a promotional ploy? I have very mixed feelings about it. On one hand, is something is free, then it is worth nothing. On the other hand, given the competition, (unless an author paid for publishing, editing, promotion, etc., which automatically qualifies the work as trash), maybe it is a way of achieving a little name recognition. Probably though, anything free that is good, will just be emailed to friends and resulting in no actual sales. I don't know. It is all so confusing.

HI! New Member here. I'd like to brag about my AWESOME Midwest Book Review!! It's coming out in the July issue, but I am allowed bragging rights! Five Stars from D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer. Most medieval novels don't offer up a steamy romance theme; but then, How To Train Your Knight isn't your usual historical novel, but offers a gripping love story set in 1276 that opens with the bang of a screaming woman accosting Sir Marcus Blackwell, a holy crusader forced into a marriage with a foul-tempered widow.
You can see it all on Amazon. Thanks for allowing me to share!

I just released the fourth book in my Delmar Shark Chronicles Series. This one is entitled Breach, and I had a lot of fun writing it. Aside from book 1 (Isola di Squalo), it's my favorite in the series so far.
Prince Mako Delmar lives life at breakneck speed - adventurous, a daredevil, reckless. He loves a good adrenaline rush, especially when it involves ditching his royal bodyguards.
He expects a holiday chock full of thrills when he travels to South Africa and comes face-to-face with the ultimate in high adventure – breaching Great White Sharks. What he doesn’t count on is crossing paths with the lovely American heiress, Harlow Karnes, whose beauty and charm pit Mako against his friends and distract him from the things he loves most. But he soon learns that people are not always what they seem.
After a series of unexpected events, Mako is forced to reconsider his impulsive lifestyle, but is it too late?
My first book is coming up on its 1 year anniversary on August 19. Still excited even though it's been a year. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MTAC...

He soon finds out that he will have to defend his little girl from the half-breeds with everything he has. "I found Rarity from the Hollow to be difficult, funny, terribly sad, absolutely true, and extremely well told. As another reviewer here notes, it should be the winner of literary prizes. Because its reputation isn't backed by big publishers and important reviewers, it will win those prizes only if it's very lucky -- a possibility I can't discount."

Gotten this from the author in exchange for an honest review, I agreed because Lacy sounded cool and the story had a mix of harsh realism and hope for a girl in the Hollow. Lacy Dawn’s family is broken, she is extremely bright but her future seems bleak, especially when her best friend was killed by her own father. When she met DotCom, she had hope, all she had to do is follow DotCom’s orders and he would help her ‘fix’ her parents. If you are thinking something else, this is not your book. Dot Com is a semi-organic life form that has been sent to convince Lacy to fulfill her destiny.
I will not lie that this book took getting used to, especially the writing style and DotCom. It/ he is a very interesting character in the book, along with the dog Brownie. The humans are not that fun, even though Lacy was the main heroine in this issue.
I like Dot Com, and how it/ he tries to become more human for Lacy. The book raises a lot of points in regards to humanity and life. While situation improves for our heroine and family, it does not take long before Dot Com calls in the debt.
The second half of the book became a test of intelligence to the readers, with new information to learn and new situations to assess. In the end, I find the ending slightly abrupt but I suppose there was no better way to end it. I shall encourage you to read Rarity in the Hollow because it is a book that touches your heart.

Cider Lane : Of silence and stars
Hi ,
I'm a self published author, not sure what's more difficult , writing a book or encouraging people to read it, self promotion does not come easily .
anyway it has been on sale for a month or two and I have a special deal on kindle from the 18th for a week when it will be reduced to 99p
Had some nice reviews from people and everyone seems to have enjoyed it , just struggling to widen the audience a little . hence the promotion
Susanna is a troubled young woman who witnesses her parents die in a car crash. Grief stricken, lost and alone. Her mind withdrawn into darkness to find solace within walls of her subconscious. Afraid of people she carries with her a terrible secret. One she keeps even from herself. She watches as the car burn then turns and walks away. She has no direction to follow but away from people, because people hurt, people bully, and people ask questions. Questions she does not wish to answer, even if she is the one asking. She retreats further into herself. Suffering from shock and the beginnings of exposure she just keeps walking.
Miles away in Scotland, Colin lays beneath the stars, conversing with them as if they are old friends. A brilliant academic who has lost everything and is now living in the shadows of his a broken life. Homeless and wracked with the haunting griefs of his past. He walks the roads and sleeps in lost abandoned places he calls his ‘stays’. Hitching rides and making what little money he can in casual jobs. He has travelled the country for years since he left the drying out clinic. Haunted with the ghosts of the past. He packs up and heads south, remembering a place where cider apples grow in the summer sunshine.
In Summerset, off Cider Lane there is an abandoned cottage in an orchard. A place forgotten by the world, broken down and half ruined. For Susanna it provides a haven, a place to rest and regain herself. Having stumbled into it she sets about surviving, free of spiteful people and their dangerous questions. When Colin arrives for the apple harvest, he finds a lost young girl as broken and damaged by the world as he once was. Together perhaps they can save each other. Amid ruins of the past they must learn to trust once more in another. If only they can. While the world is ever waiting to crash in on them once more. Meanwhile the police search for Susanna, and James Felshaw a young officer with his own dark past is determined to save Susanna from the fate that befell his sister. And the world never forgets anyone for long. • A novel of the lost and the broken. Of sharing the silences, talking to the stars, and the importance of tin openers. • Dark with humour and a cynics view of the world around us, among the hidden forgotten. Back cover A young girl is isolated by a hostile world. She watches a car burning, consuming all she knows. Grief stricken she wanders, lost, and alone, her mind withdrawn in to darkness. Fleeing from a world which has made her an outcast. Seeking only a refuge from other people. Meanwhile a traveller, homeless, damaged by his past and living on the fringes. Seeks solace in solitude. Carrying the regrets of his yesterdays with him. Walking the roads to the lost places, as abandoned by the world as he. Fate draws them together in Cider Lane, a place long forgotten by the world. Here’s a couple of cherry-picked quotes from the first reviews:
“…a journey through a psychedelic drug induced dream sequence; almost new age Monty Pythonesque”.
“The Miracle Adjuster exists in an Orwellian fantasy world full of off-beat characters, situations and humour. The writing style is excellent; the imagination is fantastic and it’s a very clever novel”.

I'm already a published author in Norway (in Norwegian) with 3 books under my belt. One NA thriller, and two MG fantasy, both in the same series. I have some plans for continued Norwegian publishing, but I'm also hoping to move into English publishing soon.
So I've made myself and Inkshares-account. Hope some of you will head over and take a look. Already have one draft up, and its my first science fiction novel!

BTW, let me know if there are anyone else here on Inkshare, would love to follow you back and see what you're working on!
Hello everyone! I am new to this forum as well. I just released my first book entitled Beyond the Red Carpet. It is a memoir following my modest upbringing to my desire to experience life behind the scenes in Hollywood. Over the last 20 years, I have mingled with nearly every A-list star, worked on film projects, attended most red carpet events, award shows, and even accepted personal invitations from presidents. I have shared stories of my travels along with my first hand accounts of what these experiences were like through my eyes. This is a book numerous people have been trying to get me to write for years, and it is finally out. Feel free to have a look. Thank you and I wish you all much success!https://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Red-Car...

Author proceeds contribute to the prevention of child maltreatment: http://www.childhswv.org/ On 1-6-17, the first review of the final edition was published, five stars. To facilitate your consideration of reviewing this novel, the closing lines were: "…Brilliant satires such as this are genius works of literature in the same class as Orwell’s 'Animal Farm.' I can picture American Lit professors sometime in the distant future placing this masterpiece on their reading list." https://marcha2014.wordpress.com/2017... On 2-17-17, Dan'l Danehy-Oakes, a critic whose book reviews often appear in the New York Review of Science Fiction, published his review of the final edition, five stars: "…I know this all sounds pretty whack, and it is, but it's also quite moving. Lacy Dawn and her supporting cast - even Brownie, the dog - are some of the most engaging characters I've run across in a novel in some time…." http://sturgeonslawyer.livejournal.co... “…It feels timeless, classic and mature in way that would ensure its longevity if more people knew about it… a distinctive approach to the adult-fairytale/modern-retelling sub-genre…I would even say it could be read in a college setting both for the craft itself and its unique brand of storytelling.
