Partly but indirectly; it was more my experience as an aviation safety regulator. When I learnt to fly, cockpits were 'clockwork'; ie, lots of instruments. Now they are just computer screens with all the software behind them. There was one US type that I was certificating for the EU and it had an all-electric cockpit with no other instruments or back-up. Lose the electrics and you lose everything; if it happens at night, you die. Add to that a possible software Trojan Horse and you have FID. Incidentally, we insisted on standby instruments for the EU. Anyway that was the inspiration. I got to fly the aircraft at Albuquerque and it was a little gem!
