Hey guys! I'm not sure if specific people are allowed to add New Topics on here but I just wanted to see if anyone had read 13 reasons why and what your thoughts were on it.

I really thought it was good, one of the best books I've read about young adult suicide. What did you think about it?
I read this a while ago and still think that it is one of the most stunning and touching stories that I have ever read. This novel really puts things into perspective and is written beautifully.

Anyone can add new topics :)..hopefully the others will add topics as well. Who is the author of this??

Great Book! I never thought I would like a suicide book, but here I am, and I love 13 Reasons Why. Jay Asher is the kind of author who can make you live in another person's shoes without traveling or doing anything. Just by moving your eyes with the words, like music...
Solash: I really enjoyed this book! More than I thought I would. I loved the way it was written and it was a very unique story.Teresa: Thanks! The author is Jay Asher
Thirteen reasons why is such a brilliant book! It made me cry as well Tabetha! And I thought the idea was original and written so well.
This was a great book. I finished it in two days which I have done with this and TFIOS. I think it shines a light on the real struggles teens go through. It showed me that even if it seems like a harmless action what you do affects other people. It may have just been a funny comment to you, but to another person it was a stab in the chest. Suicides aren't caused by the person but what drove the person to take their life.
I really enjoyed this book. It was one of those books you couldn't put it down. Beautifully written by Jay Asher. I definitely recommend!
I loved this book. I couldn't stop reading it. It was weird because you already know that she is going to die. But in a good way.
I read this book in a day! It is beautiful and makes you think about people and what they are going through. I think everyone should read this if they have not :)
Lots of people have told me it's a really good book but I just couldn't quite get into it... should I try again now? I was trying to read that when I was 11...
I liked the book but I was really upset when she let certain things happen to her. (People who read the book might know what I'm talking about) She was so weak and I understand her reason but she needed to be stronger.
That is true. But not everyone can be strong and there are people like her. I guess that is the point of the book. She was weak. Which is why all those things happened and also why she committed suicide.
I read it years ago and don't really remember too much of it except that I didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else did. Don't get me wrong, I still liked the book, but I guess my expectations were too high so it was kind of a letdown.

A friend of mine read the book after I did and he said to me "Hannah is an idiot for killing herself" and to me this is the sort of attitude that keeps suicide being an issue (view spoiler) if there keeps being a negative attitude around these issues instead of more of a willingness to fix the problem then we won't get anywhere.
Yeah. Alison, I totally agree with you. I believe that people should be more aware of people who may be considering suicide.
Yea this is a super frustrating aspect of the issue
Yeah I totally agree ... I mean I loved this book because it shows us that sometimes we do things that may seem "small" but we don't know the way they affect others so this book makes you think about how you affect others and how you may change your attitude and help ...
definitely and who else thinks that bryce deserves a medal for worst human being on the face of the planet
Me . The scary part is that he isn't totally fictional .. People like him actually exist and contribute to things like this .
god it's terrible, and he doesn't even get to listen to the tapes and hear what he did. I really wanted some of the guys to just beat him up. Personally i think he's a major contributor to hannah's depression.
Yeah. Hannah was my favorite character because you could really understand her and she was so sad. It was a really upsetting book. But so amazing.
I would always forget during the book that Hannah was dead because her voice and her stories were so alive!
I read it twice, the first time I was very young maybe 11 and it was very hard to read back then but I reread it last year and I really enjoyed it even tho it's not an easy topic to read about and I understood things better than I did the first time, but anyway, both times I couldn't put it down and I'm thinking about rereading it again because I loved the writing style and the story was touching and had very well written characters.
This was such a beautiful story. So moving and emotional. It's not an easy topic to read about...but the story was beautifully moving.
