Bekka | 13 comments What books and/or authors do you like who read Irish Fantasy?

Anyone know of groups - anywhere - dedicated to Irish Fantasy? Thanks for any info.

Werner | 2045 comments Bekka, Peter Tremayne's short story "The Samhain Feis" draws on Irish lore of the fantastic, as do some of the other stories included in Peter Haining's anthology Great Irish Tales of Horror: A Treasury of Fear. And Stephen Vincent Benet's wonderful story "O'Halloran's Luck" (written in the 1930s, I think, but set in the 19th century) features an immigrant leprechaun in the U.S. Don't know of any groups with that particular focus, though!

Thanks, Werner. I just finished my first short story (the first in a series). The plot started in North America, but I was also working at the time on my family's Irish genealogy. The book ended up becoming an Irish fantasy story. So, I'm working to plug into the Irish Fantasy community.... :)

Yes, Pamela, we are! On the whole, we're a pretty quiet group, but we're still alive and kicking. We do an annual group read every October, so participation typically picks up in the fall, as we lead up to that.
