Blagica wrote: "where do you think you will finish 2015? Best of luck with 75!"I'm on 90 at the moment - hoping to get some good reading in over Christmas once I'm not travelling so much so possibly finishing on 95? So much better than the 50 I was aiming for!
First two books of the year finished :D I suppose there is an up-side to being sick! 1. The Last Kingdom - Bernard Cornwell ★★★★☆ 368 pages (02/01/16)
2. The Prince of Midnight - Laura Kinsale ★★★★★ 512 pages (03/01/16)
Great job on smashing your 2015 goal! Congrats on finishing your first two books in 2016! Have you watched any of the Last Kingdom miniseries? I broke the cardinal rule and watched it before reading the book (and really enjoyed it!).
Megan wrote: "Great job on smashing your 2015 goal! Congrats on finishing your first two books in 2016! Have you watched any of the Last Kingdom miniseries? I broke the cardinal rule and watched it before readin..."Not yet - I wanted to read the books first!
I watched the first six episodes of Poldark before giving up and thinking that I just read the books and because I'd seen the show first, I didn't really enjoy the first book. I'm going to stick with reading first from now on!
Two more down - I'm on a roll this week!3. Cinder - Marissa Meyer ★★☆☆☆ (04/01/16)
This was a bit disappointing. Not much happened for the longest time and I really couldn't bring myself to care that much. It did pick up a bit towards the end and I'll probably try at least the second book in the series - it's already on my kindle so I might as well!
4. The Child Thief - Brom ★★★★★ (06/01/16)
Loved this! It was dark and screwed up right from the very beginning. Now I'm not sure why Peter Pan didn't creep me out as a kid.
Another two done. Slowing down a bit but that's partly because I've got two books that I'm about 30% through but struggling a bit with (one because it's an audiobook and so it's taking longer and the second because the writing style is irritating me a bit).5. Persuasion - Jane Austen ★★☆☆☆ (08/01/16)
Better than Pride and Prejudice and there were a few moments where I actually thought I might possibly like it, but it was just okay in the end. I just don't think think I'm ever going to be a Jane Austen fan.
6. Alice - Christina Henry ★★★★☆ (12/01/16)
Another dark retelling that I've read this month and I really enjoyed it. It's really messed up and I don't think it would be for everyone - a lot of awful stuff happens and it could be very triggering for people.
7. Again the Magic - Lisa Kleypas ★★★★☆ (12/01/16)8. Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery ★★★★★ (14/01/16)
9. Anne of Avonlea - L.M. Montgomery ★★★★☆ (16/01/16)
10. Feverborn - Karen Marie Moning ★★★★★ (19/01/16)
Having a pretty good January so far! :)
Read more than I did in January last year and still hoping to get a few more in by the end of the month! 11. Anne of the Island - L.M. Montgomery ★★★☆☆ (20/01/16)
