Writing Details

Well, I'm trying my best to show and NOT tell what the details are. Whenever I get stuck on details, I look for inspiration and then my mind thinks of something for me to write.

Just my opinion, but it depends on the kind of detail you're talking about. Not everything needs to be detailed. But I think if you look for examples in stories that you enjoy, it might be a good start. For example, if it's about someone's appearance or environment, usually just giving enough info so the reader can visualize is enough. Anything more might be good if it's necessary to make a person stand out or if it's a quirk that has relevance to a story. Just putting in detail for the sake of detail is overkill. Also, getting someone's feedback can be useful, but that's not for everyone... :)Good luck.
