I really enjoyed this book. However, i was a little bit disappointed by it. Because i LOVED the original trilogy so much, i guess this one could not live up to my expectations. My main problem was the religious aspect, which is done so well in his other books, but is just too much for me here. Gave it therefore 4*

I've read all the Cosmere, Stormlight is my personal fave was never really into Mistborn as much but i did like it a lot, just keep reading.

Alloy of Law was a great book but it didn't live up to the Mistborn trilogy for me however Shadows of Self was much better (than AOL not original MB)! I loved the references to the original trilogy and how it's all weaving together. The return of the Kandra was really great and that ending was SO emotional. I'm ridiculously excited for the next book in the series.
My only complaint would be that I agree with Milou, the religious aspect was a little too over-the-top for me. However I still really enjoyed it and gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

Have to agree with Sophie.... DAMN that ending, it made me cry. It was so good

I do think this is far superior than The Alloy of Law in terms of plot - especially as it relates to the Cosmere (so exciting!). The characters, on the other hand, remain as amazing as they always were. Wayne is still my favorite by far, and he is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters ever. And I absolutely loved Steris' growth as a character here.
I knew there were surprises coming, but boy, @Slick, you were right! (view spoiler)
I was fine with the religious over-the-topness of it (and it really was a little over the top). It really felt like BS intended for religious poeple to relate to some age-old questions about God's power and omnipresence. The thing is, it must have been dull for people who are not religious... Still, I think it was interesting in terms of comparing the characters of human-Sazed and Harmony-Sazed, and really interesting in terms of understanding a society in which the presence of a God is proven and a given.
I'm looking foward The Bands of Mourning in January!!
I'm in chapter 8 so far, and up to chapter 6 I wasn't very excited about this book yet. But (view spoiler)[ the minute Harmony showed up things got really interesting again! (hide spoiler)] I'm glad to be back in this world now! :)
I would love to know what you all think/thought about it too!
