I've only ever used Wordpress - I'm afraid to try anything else since I'm so bad at learning new technology. I'll be curious to hear what others say. Maybe I need to be brave and make a switch :-)
I use Wordpress and love it. I've used Tumblr before but I felt like it's not professional enough for my author blog (that's just my personal opinion though).
if you post a link to your blog, i'll follow it. I'm always looking for more indie writers to follow
Thanks, Samantha! Till now I was using the blog for my book (Coinman: An Untold Conspiracy). I am creating a new blog as "writer blog". I will send you a link today/tomorrow as I make my first post :)
I'd appreciate any comments on my blog - I've just started it, but I'm not happy with the colouring and I am not sure why . . . plus I am not 100% confident on what I am doing, which is a small detail . . :-o)https://silverfox175.wordpress.com/
Many thanks

It is easy to read and the yellow makes the blog posts stand out. For what it's worth, I think you did a great job!
Hi Melanie - thank you for your kind comments, I wasn't sure if the yellow was too harsh, after all I shouldn't complain as it is a free-bee at the moment with Wordpress. :-o)BTW where you offered the chance to 'follow'? Please don't think that I am asking you to follow, but certain 'things' don't seem to show when I check, perhaps because I am the admin person.
Hi Samantha - here is the link to my blog. I have added my first post as my new year resolutions.https://pawanmishrablogs.wordpress.com
Hi All - I have realized that the image on my blog post is not pulled by goodreads. I have tried syncing multiple times. Any suggestions? Is this a known issue?
You might have already done this but -Click on 'edit my profile' then 'view my profile'
and on the right hand side you should see Please see my web site and to the right 'edit data' click on this and you will see your avatar, and 'edit blog'. External blog feed URL should agree with your blog site. When they are correct sync the system.
I had a similar problem and played around with the system until I received what I wanted :-o)
thanks, Geoff! I tried it with very high hopes; it did not work though :)Thanks for the suggestions!

I agree Kevin. I ended up deciding for wordpress. I still have to do lot of work on the page -- but I guess it is going to be great.pawanmishrablogs.wordpress.com
Another factor you should consider is whether to use self-hosted WordPress or WordPress.com.With self-hosted WordPress, you have a lot more flexibility. You can install any themes or plugins you like.
With WordPress.com, you can only choose from a limited set of themes and aren't able to use plugins at all. But, it's free.
So there are trade-offs to consider.
I'm a WordPress developer, so ask me any questions you like.
Cheers and good luck with your WordPress site!

My blog is mostly humorous, and I post once monthly. If you're interested in taking a peek, it's at:

Thank you - I hope you're having a great week!
I use WordPress, but for the life of me can't figure out how to add a page. Right now I have "About" "Books" and "Contact" at the top of my site. But I want to separate my Books page into three different pages for the three genres I write. Help!
Thanks, Donna! That's a good point. Is book review plug in available on both?

If you have categories set up for each of your genres, then all you need to do is go to Appearance > Menus, choose the appropriate menu to add pages to (if you have more than one), and then drag the categories (or genres) you want into the menu.
Hope that works for you.
Cheers!
That's a good point. Is book review plug in available on both?Hi Pawan,
Unfortunately not. WordPress.com runs a tight ship with regards to what plugins can be installed, and because the Book Review plugin is so niche, I can't see them allowing it any time soon.
Thx.
That makes sense now because i was looking for it and couldn't fine. I was earlier using wordpress plugin for godaddy hosting -- but seemed like a lot of involvement was required to get more features; so decided to use wordpress.com
Pawan & Julie,I just started a WordPress Bloggers group this morning since there seems to be a good number of people using WordPress for their blogs. Hopefully it will evolve into a good place for asking questions and getting discussions going on WordPress related topics.
Cheers!
Hi, I was able to create the new categories in the menu. Thank you. But now I don't know how to edit the new pages. I feel like an idiot. WordPress does not seem very user friendly to me.
Julie wrote: "Hi, I was able to create the new categories in the menu. Thank you. But now I don't know how to edit the new pages. I feel like an idiot. WordPress does not seem very user friendly to me."What is it in particular that you would like to change on those pages?
If it's content, then you would just edit the original posts. Changes to how that content looks and functions is the responsibility of the particular theme you are using.
