Sarah | 22 comments Ok, so I'm off to a good start. I finished reading David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell yesterday, Jan 1. I purchased this last year I think.

My commitment is for Everest, but I have high hopes of making it to the top of Olympus. I've cleared away all the challenges that require library books or "out of my comfort zone" books that might keep me from reading my own TBR piles. I read 164 books last year total--but about 40 of those were from the library.

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) I've been stuck on Dark Places for a while now. I prefered her other books as well.
I also have Landline, as well as Fangirl and Attachments, by Rainbow Rowell on my TBR list. I have yet to read anything from her. Did you enjoyed it?

Hi Natália. I really like Rainbow Rowell's work, except I didn't really enjoy Landline very much. Attachments was great, and I loved Eleanor and Park. I also have Fangirl on my TBR list and have heard good things about it. I thought Landline was boring and I didn't connect with the characters. But that's just me. There are plenty of people who enjoyed it!

And yeah, Dark Places...I don't know. I was stuck on it for a long time too. I picked it up and put it aside at least 5 or 6 times, for over a year. Have you read her short story/novella ,The Grownup, that was recently published?

Hum, I think I'll start with Fangirl or Attatchments first, then! They were the ones who captured my attention first anyway.

No, I'm still waiting for the library copy. There's a huge waiting list for this book!

Sarah | 22 comments 8. Fifteen Dogs by Andre Alexis. Purchased in 2015, finished Jan. 12, 2016. Loved this book. Very sad though: I couldn't get through it without crying. In a nutshell, the book is a commentary on what it means to be human. An apologue à la Animal Farm, but way better. It won two important awards in Canada last year, and deservedly so.

I have a new born baby at home who sleeps a lot at the moment, which is why I have been able to read so much lately. But as he gets older I doubt I'll be able to keep it up. I think I'll be lucky if I finish the Mt. Vancouver by the end of the year!
