Anna - aiming for 50 (finished and aiming higher!)
Ju, I like a variety of genres - classics, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, mystery, non-fiction - and I could go on! So I have plenty of books to choose from for the challenge.
Good to hear! I mostly read SFF myself, but I have more recently branched into light hearted mysteries that aren't too scary :)
Book 2 for the challenge: The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 3: Prick with a Fork by Larissa Dubecki. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... Not a big fan of this one.
Book 4: The Girl with the Dogs by Anna Funder. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... A short but very worthwhile read.
Book 5: Double Madness by Caroline de Costa. I haven't had time to write a review for this one but I thought it was a great read - 4 stars.
Book 7: The Scent of Murder by Felicity Young. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
I've been away on holiday and have added two books to my total: 9. From India with Love by Latika Bourke and 10. The Grass is Greener by Loretta Hill (my review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...).
Brenda, I seemed to be in a minority as I wasn't a huge fan of The Grass is Greener. My mother in law gave it to me as a gift and it probably isn't a book I'd have chosen for myself, which probably explains why it wasn't my cup of tea. Certainly lots of other reviewers seem to have loved it! And that's why it's great that we have so many AWW to choose from - there is something for everybody. I've just written a review and added a link to my post above.
That's bad luck Anna...I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, but it seems strange to be given a gift of a book that isn't your normal fare as well!
Book 11: The Other Side of the World by Stephanie Bishop. Mixed feelings about this one - my review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 12: Her Father's Daughter by Alice Pung. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 13: Home by Larissa Behrendt. My (short) review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 14: Gogo Mama by Sally Sara. A very powerful read. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 16: The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville. An excellent book. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 18: Dogs of India by Polly McGee. I was looking forward to this one but unfortunately didn't enjoy it. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 19: Mothers and Others, by many different Australian women, and edited by Maggie Scott, Miriam Sved, Christie Nieman, Maya Linden and Natalie Kon-Yu. A great anthology with some really enjoyable and thought-provoking pieces - 4 stars.
Book 20: The Beloved by Annah Faulkner. I very much enjoyed this one. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 21: Rough Diamond by Kathryn Ledson. My short review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... Another enjoyable book.
Book 23: The Don't Panic Guide to Birth by Fiona McArthur. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 25: The Light on the Water by Olga Lorenzo. I really liked this one. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 26: All These Perfect Strangers by Aoife Clifford. I had mixed feelings about this one. My short review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 27: Political Amnesia: How We Forgot How To Govern by Laura Tingle. An interesting and thought-provoking read, particularly in the middle of an election campaign - 4 stars.
Book 28: Resurrection Bay by Emma Viskic. A fast-paced and compelling detective thriller. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 29: The Tea Chest by Josephine Moon. Really not a fan of this one I'm afraid. My review (which includes spoilers) is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 31: Small Acts of Disappearance by Fiona Wright. A compelling collection of essays - my review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 32: Rush Oh! by Shirley Barrett. A quirky but enjoyable read. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 33: High Seas and High Teas: Voyaging to Australia by Roslyn Russell. A very interesting read. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 34: Hope Farm by Peggy Frew. Another great read - 4 stars. And since we're just over halfway through the year, it's a good time to check how I'm tracking towards my goal. At 34 books, I'm well over halfway to my goal of 50. This is the first year I'm reviewing as well, so I'd only aimed to review 25 of the 50. I'm very close to that goal, with 22 reviews so far. Just as well, as I'm due to have my first baby in less than three weeks so I supect my reading and reviewing time will soon be significantly reduced!
Book 35: Baby Love: 6th Edn by Robin Barker. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 36: Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington (Nugi Garimara). I had high expectations but unfortunately found this to be disappointing. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Book 38: A Wealth Of Women: Australian Women's Lives From 1788 To The Present by Alison Alexander. A very interesting book - 4 stars.
Book 39: The Natural Way of Things by Charlotte Wood. Mixed feelings about this one. My review (which contains mild spoilers) is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....This review is my 25th, which was my goal for this year (I'd aimed to read 50 books by AWW and review 25). I'll certainly keep reviewing when I have time!
Book 40: Our Vietnam Nurses by Annabelle Brayley. A very interesting read. My review is at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
