Same author, more profiles
Apparently Margery Williams and Margery Bianco are the same author. Since the latter has only two books, only one of which is primarily hers, I could just rename her Margery Williams to merge the two.Or, I could rename them both "Margery Williams Bianco" and then merge them. Or is there a better way to handle this kind of situation?
Here's my source:
Emily | 69 comments Just a quick note on Winterbound. The author, Margery Williams Bianco is the author of The Velveteen Rabbit, and I've found that goodreads entries for her books are sometimes a little confused. She published her most famous book, The Velveteen Rabbit under the name Margery Williams, so that's of course how she's most commonly known, but her later books, including Winterbound she published under her married name Margery Bianco. So there are currently two listings for this title, one under each name. Cheryl, you linked to the one with the name that's actually on the book, but which has very few ratings. Clicking on the Winterbound by "Margery Williams" gives more ratings and reviews. They should really be combined, and as a librarian, technically I can do that, but I'd have to chance "Margery Bianco" to "Margery Williams" to do that, which doesn't seem quite right.
My understanding is that they should both stay, as she published under both names. Looking at the book covers, it looks like she should have a third profile, "Margery Williams Bianco," since at least one book is published that way, also. But I would add a link in each profile, to the other profiles. See M.C. Beaton
Hi, people! Now, I know it maybe isn't a best choice to put it here, but I looked for other topics and thought my question fits here best. Anyway, I wanted to add a book "L'Idéologie du New Age" by french philosopher Michel Lacroix and it was already in database. But what I found opening author's profile was that there are other books, not written by this author. I tried to add a space between the name and the surname, but then the system repeatedly put capital "c", being now "LaCroix" instead of staying "Lacroix", as I wanted it to be. So I just rolled things back as they were, leaving one space between. My question is whether this is a solvable problem, and could someone fix it?
Here are the books of french philosopher Michel Lacroix:

Not sure where to post this, but this is my book and it is listed under another author by the name of A.J. Richards. Please let me know how this can be moved under the correct page, aka mine. Thanks for your help with this. A.J. Richardshttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
We use extra space to separate authors with the same name, so you are A.J.^^^Richards (^ = space) Each book of you needs those three spaces to be on your profile. I have edited this book. But it seems you did put the ISBN13 in the ISBN10 slot so now the last digits are missing, you can edit that yourself or provide the correct ISBN here.
Thanks for that. So not sure what you mean about my name for future books. Is there a place I can read more about it? ISBN 10: 502387468Thanks so much
Hi A.J. If you are adding your own books in future, just insert 2 extra spaces between A.J. and Richards (3 in total) and it will go to your profile. There are two other A.J. Richards already on Goodreads and we use the extra spacing to differentiate between authors. It doesn't look any different to a reader.Or just request for a librarian to move the books to your profile. We do it all the time. Best to start a new thread with your request to keep it from being missed. They usually go under Book Issues.
::EDIT:: Never mind -- I fixed it.------------------------------------------------
Here is a similar-ish problem that I do not know how to fix: The book The Elephants of Style: A Trunkload of Tips on the Big Issues and Gray Areas of Contemporary American English was written by Bill Walsh. There is another edition of this book: The Elephants of Style : A Trunkload of Tips on the Big Issues and Gray Areas of Contemporary American English, which I would like to combine. The problem, however, is that although Bill Walsh is listed as the author, it is showing up as the incorrect Bill Walsh. How do we change this book to having the correct author listed, so the editions can be combined?
I'm sorry if I have this under the wrong folder, but I can't figure out where to get help. I just tried to vote for a book or the book of the year awards, as a write in vote, in the historical fiction section. The book is Julian Carleton, I'm Not Just Another George, by Ethel Cook-Wilson. It was published June 10, 2014. I keep getting the message that the publishing date doesn't qualify. What is the problem?
You might do better adding to the thread already containing the same sort of problems: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Hello,These are two profiles of one author:

The latter is just Serbian spelling. How can I delete it? Or perhaps merge them?

The policy for authors who publish in both English (or in this case, German) and another language with a different spelling of their name is to have the English spelling primary and the edition-specific spelling as a secondary author. Whatever is on the book cover should be reflected in the book record. I have put Mari-Žanin Čalić back as a secondary author on the Serbian edition of one of her books.
These should be the same author, just spelled differently, so they could be merged.https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

This one too, one is the name in japanese, the other the western one:https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Reminder: please do not merge author names in different languages. https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...
Authors with books published in multiple languages should have their names dealt with similarly to those with pen names. All editions should have the primary author name as the standard or most common Roman (that is, English-language) version of the author's name. Editions published under another spelling of the name or the name in another language should have that name listed as the secondary author. Different editions of a book not having the same primary author can cause quite a few distinct problems. Please keep the primary author for all editions of a work the same.
These refer to the same author:https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Hi, I accidently created two different profiles. Can the other one be merged into this one so I can connect with all my friends from my author profile? Here is my other profile https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1...
re 28, because one is an author profile, a GOodreads employee will have to do the merge for you. I've reposted your request to a thread where they will see it.
I have created my author page. My book Gangs of Wasseypur The Making of a Modern Classic is added to my profile. however my second book Mother Maiden Mistress (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... does not come under my works. Can you please add that page under my profile.
#31 : are there 3 different authors in that book ?separate into 3 authors...

Actually, when there are two user accounts involved, it needs to be handled via the Contact Us link on the Help page.

Okay, I submitted a question on the Contact Us page. Thank you for following up with this :)

Hello, Could you please combine CC MacKenzie profile with C.C. MacKenzie? As well as the two books that are there? We'd like to keep those reviews. ;)
Here is the profile we DO NOT want:
CC MacKenzie
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Here are the links to the books on that profile that we'd like to add to the C.C. Mackenzie profile:
Delicious and Deadly

An Affair to Remember:

This is all rather confusing, isn't it?
If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you!
Jennifer (C.C.'s assistant)
re 42, only goodreads employees can merge author profiles if one of them has been claimed. i will repost your request to the employee thread.
There are no fans or quotes on the profile, so just changing the name on the 2 books would move them and their reviews to the correct author, no?

Merged the roman profiles but we maintain author profiles in different languages where books have been translated so the Russian one left and roman author name added to primary slot as per policy
