This is a fun list. It'd be interesting to see at year's end how many of my reads satisfy these categories. It's helpful that one book can count for 2 categories. There are some I don't know I could meet : The first book you see in a bookstore (the moment you walk in, there are SO many); A book recommended by a family member (my siblings don't read); and A book recommended by someone you just met - this might happen on a trip :)
I think I'd struggle with the family member as well. My brother and Dad read but my dads taste runs more to crime and my brother is mainly whatever is in the news at the time. Reading a book pick by someone you just met is a fun prospect.
Seraphina wrote: "A self improvement book? Why Paul? Why do you torture readers so??"Yes, that's a step too far, as is a political memoir - though maybe could double that up with the one based on a fairly tale !
Good luck with it Robyn. I've been doing this challange through the Dragons and Jetpacks group. Don't know if I'll manage a few of the categories though. Struggling with self improvement, political memoir, and autobiography. I don't really do NF.I really recommend the continental challange. I've discovered a lot of new-to-me writters. It's great fun selecting books for either ;-)
I actually did an Auto bio this year , possibly the only non fiction I'll read but it was Roald Dahls so great fun
Emma wrote: "Robyn you might be interested in our continental challenge which the group is doing this yr. We are trying to read one book based in each continent over the course of the year. You'll find details ..."That also looks good! Just finished a book so I need something new :)

Something about "finding my passion" - pointed. I like the occasional autobiography or memoir so maybe I'll find something good. Reluctant to try Roald Dahl as although he's my all time favourite children's author I recently read a collection of his short stories for adults which I really didn't like.
Boy feels closer to his Childrens works than his adults works so should be good for those who loved him as a child. His adult fiction has a very different feel
