Literary Fiction by People of Color discussion

Several authors of color on this list. I'm currently reading Elizabeth Alexander's The Light of the World: A Memoir and it's incredible. It's listed under autobiography and it's actually a memoir and they have Coates book under criticism and it's actually just non-fiction, correct? Semantics I guess but strange categorization.
