I thought the same about Henry . Hes a cheeky little so and so but he really nows his stuff. I remember being quite curious about the underground rivers after reading the book as well.

I've ordered this from the library. I was in two minds about reading it as, with the exeption of the barrytown trilogy, I'm not a big fan of Roddy Doyle. But what the hell - with the season that's in it n'all! Plus I can't get hold of a user friendly version of my book club ;P
I love the last roundup trilogy - with the centenary this year it's great that people may think or reading this- I love Henry's antics !
I found my copy and may take it with me on my trip. I have other books I have to read before starting this but I am looking forward to a 1916-themed book.
This may sound like a out-from-left-field remark but as serious as this novel is, it reminds me a bit of Forrest Gump, in terms of how many luminaries Henry knows, meets, interacts with, just by chance. He's an Everyman who isn't.
