Hi
I agree 1st looks good! What do you all fancy doing for it? Books set in the US shouldn't be too difficult, but I'm happy to go for anything.
Has anyone got ideas for a team name?

Lol! No, that's cool. I'm pretty sure we'll run into something much more challenging down the line. :P
I suck at team names too. Five for flying? (to fit the travel theme?)
Fearless Five?
Five Ferocious Readers?
There happens to be a Florence MA very close to me. Got an Aunt and Uncle there.
I do not want to be captain, btw. I'm good with either route although I think we should try for more points as often as possible. I confess that I did not fully read the rules yet but I do believe following the detour is worth more points.
Either way, I have books for all the options this week.
Here are a few name ideas...First Class Five
Book Us a Flight
Planes, Trains & Pages
Leave the Reading to Us (based off the slogan 'Leave the driving to us)
World Class Readers
So I went back to my normal screen name (started added something after Mary because there were always other Mary's playing challenges and it was confusing.) In case anyone is wondering why it looks different.
Sisterhood of the travelling books?
I have a feeling choosing the name could be more difficult than anything else we have to do!
Have any of you managed to get a look at the whole of our itinerary? I just get a message saying I need permission. Feeling nosy and want to see where else we'll be travelling to.
I can find books to fit whatever task we want to do.

Whenever we decide on what we want to do...I just finished this book (started after our thread was set up).Ninja at First Sight by Penny Reid
It's set in the US, was written by an American author, can be used for "N", "P", "R" and if we're allowed to use series "K" or MC names "G", "A", or "F". I also just added it to my TBR, so it will work for the detour as well.
I also like Books Us a Flight. I haven't looked for a book yet but I can't probably find something that will work for any option we choose.
I'm having a hard time picking a book because I don't want to start a series book in case I need it for another team challenge. (it's series based and I won't know what # I'll need until Friday. )

Hi everyone! I like the names Book Us A Flight and Leave the Reading to Us for our team.I can find a book that fits for every task as well as the detour. Looking forward to this challenge.
So do we need to pick a captain to do our submissions? I really don't want to captain. Does anyone else want to?Also I am not liking the book I picked so I am going to look for another one.
Looking at the rules I think this is a non-captain game so we all work together to sort out submissions etc. Might be easiest if we all add things to the spreadsheet or however we choose to organise things.
Book us a flight seems to be popular. Does anyone object if we put it down as the team name?
1. Gunnison (US) - Florence (US)
2. Florence (US) - Bermuda (BM)
3. Bermuda (BM) - Abuja (NG)
4. Abuja (NG) - Hurghada (EG)
5. Hurghada (EG) - Nizhny Novgorod (RU)
6. Nizhny Novgorod (RU) - Almaty (KZ)
7. Almaty (KZ) - Petropavlovsk (RU)
8. Petropavlovsk (RU) - Gunnison (US)
is our itinerary

I'm good with Book Us a Flight. Hmm. I don't think I have anything for many of those countries.
What have we decided to do this round? I think we should go the detour route if it gives more points. Or is there someone who can't read a recently added to-read book? US is an easy to cover country so why not take the extra points when we can when we know we might not be able to cover some of the more obscure stops.
I haven't added anything to my to-read shelf for a while.
As far as I can tell if we all read a book set in the US this week that gets 35 points and hopefully won't be a difficult country to cover, unlike some of the other stops (I don't think I know of any books set in Kazakhstan, but I'm sure we could find some...). Then for the more difficult stops we could detour (max 50 points).

The thing we want to keep in mind is we can only do a maximum of 5 detours. So, since the US is such an easy locale I say we stick with it.
I'm good with Book Us A Flight as team name. I think we should do the task of books set in US as it's pretty easy and leave the detours for harder task.
I think Raine is the only person who has yet to check in. I'll go ahead and send her a pm to let her know we are ready to start.
I just reread my last post and I think I had in my head the reading books set in a specific country is also part of the detour. My bad. So now that I had my aha moment, I agree lets save the detours for harder countries.
My book locals are pretty limited to the more common locals: UK & North America. I might have something in the Caribbean. I have a book set in Botswana. But those don't help us. When is our target date for completing the first stop?
I think my books either cover common locations, scandinavia or fantasy worlds which aren't going to be useful!
If we go for reading books in the US for this round we have the choice of either waiting until we are all done with something or setting a deadline and moving on when we reach it - what do people think?
I can probably start something that will fit tonight and finish it in within the week.

I can have something finished by Sunday. Probably sooner but I'm going out tomorrow and have class on Saturday. I might wait to pick a different book until tomorrow morning when a play is made on another team challenge. Then I can try and use one book for both. Then again, I might just start something today anyway.
Hi everyone! I tried to post from my phone on the train ride home yesterday, but for some reason GR wasn't letting hit the post button to post my response.
Our first stop (U.S.) is easy. I say we stay and not detour since we only have a certain number of times we can detour. I can read tons of books of authors from the U.S. or located from the U.S. In fact I just read two books last night/early this morning with both set in Wyoming. Both books should count because I started the first one 20 hours ago and it looks like our group was created 23 hours ago.
So if we read more than one book per stop that is 10 points each book, right?
I'm okay with either Book Us A Flight or Leave the Reading to Us as the group name.
I think only one book per person counts at each stop, but I might be wrong about that...
Raine - that's speedy reading!

Sophie wrote: "I think only one book per person counts at each stop, but I might be wrong about that...Raine - that's speedy reading!"
I think it depends on which option we choose. With some of the spell it outs we'd need multiple books per person.
Yeah with some of the spell it outs we will need more than one book from some people. But we can always opt to do something other than the spell it out. Unless both the country and detour are just too hard one week.
So, it sounds like we'll just stick with book set in the US for this first stop, right? We should probably set up a tracking post. I can do that if nobody objects. I'll just put it in my first post...which is Msg. 8.
I can't find anything in the rules that say you have to so, I guess if you wanted to you can but it is not mandatory.
Thanks for the tracking post!
Will try to get my book for this read over the weekend. If I stay awake today there's a good chance I'll manage it (16 hour shift yesterday might mean I don't though!)
