Just One Day by Sharla Lovelace

She has nothing but time . . .

Twenty-four hours. That’s how long Andie Fremont has to say yes—or no. At forty-four with a daughter in college, she’s no young kitten with starry-eyed ideas of what love is. Still, when the man who is everything she should want pops the question with a ring he knows isn’t her style, during a party she didn’t want to have, Andie balks. Something tells her that it isn’t right.

Looking to clear her head, Andie hits the Texas highway in search of an answer. And when she stumbles upon an old roadside diner she decides waffles might be it, at least for now. What she didn’t expect to find was Jesse Montgomery. The man who stole her heart and broke it all in one day, two decades earlier.

As a Texas-size storm takes shape outside, the electricity between Andie and Jesse builds inside. Suddenly Andie is faced with more than just yes or no. As the storm clears there are two men who will want answers.

I really, really love now it isn't flowery or the romance all lovey-dovey yet I don't like this 'accidently' meet 20 years later and re-fall-in-love thing - well, I am assuming they will fall in love again. It shows that the characters are adult who act like an adult and all but again all the coincidences kinda ruin for me. I've read much worse MCs too, but I just couldn't bring myself to like this books. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Ahaha! I seriously don't even know what her name is which is never a good indicator since I am about half way through. Yeah, I like the writing for that reason too. It makes it seem like a much more realistic relationship... which is ruined by the coincidences. I am not really warming up to it yet. Its okay though. I'm not disliking it as much as I though5 I would but maybe because I was warned! (hide spoiler)]

Sometimes a warning can help our reading, right? I mean I definitely lower my expectation of books I want to read whenever I see low rating :)

I really think it did, so thanks! I am more prepared so am not shocked by the weird coincidences being passed off as fate and all that.

I'm glad you thought the same, Rachel. Could it be because it is a novella? the author seems doesn't have time and space of pages to explain a lot. But then, I've read many novella that can cover all the story without feel like it happens out of the blue.

It might be but I doubt. Same as you, I have read some great novellas that haven't rushed through so I don't think its that. This is just a dud book really. :(
