That being said, I had a build-up of Audible credits because of the Christmas play, so I went ahead and got all three Lord of the Rings books read by Rob Inglis, so if we want to start there, we can.

Fellowship of the Ring is a good idea. I've been planning on re-reading the audio books this year. I usually lean harder to fiction myself.

Like Brenden, I read about 90% theological stuff - books that tax my gray matter - as I prefer to challenge myself to be a better Berean and to see if the things that I have traditionally held to be true are indeed in-line with scripture (I have changed more views than not in my life).
I am reading one "fluff" book out of the 6 or 7 other books that I am currently reading. Lucky for me it is the Fellowship of the Ring audio book read by Rob Inglis. Guess what I'll vote for :)
However, because of my heavy reading schedule (read that like Sean Connery - "shed-yule") I need lighter fare if I am to keep up with y'all.
So far Fellowship is the front runner. We'll give it some more time before making it official in case someone wants to nominate another book.
Fellowship of the Ring it is, by acclaim! We'll read/listen to it for March and April, then the next pick will be for May & June.

I am requesting that we postpone LOTR for a book or two. I am planning to relaunch an old Tolkien podcast that I used to do with my son, and the M.O. of this show will be Finding Christ In Middle-earth - where we will go through Tolkien's legendarium chapter by chapter, book by book. I had planned on beginning with FOTR.
This group would be perfect in terms of show-prep!
I am trying to get Brenden to co-host this show with me along with my son as a frequent co-host. Also, a gentleman that hosts a C.S. Lewis podcast has expressed interest in doing this show. This will be an amazing ministry opportunity as our old podcast would generate many thousands of downloads.
Though I wouldn't pitch of fit if y'all chose to go ahead with this as the first selection, I would like if you'd consider placing it on hold.
Oops! I just now saw this, and have just gotten to Lothlorien recently. Brenden is also listening to the audio book. When the new show starts, it will still be pretty fresh in our minds, so we can still chime in on it. Plus, there are chapter summaries to be found on line to refresh our memories. Oops again, sorry!
Also, easy and affordable availability is important. Particularly, I'd like titles to be available on Audible so people who mainly just listen to audio books can participate in every book pick.
Thoughts and suggestions are welcome!
