I've been wondering about how the show opens with that scene of Ross as a British soldier during the American Revolution. How important do you think his experience in the war is to who he is when he returns to Cornwall? Is there something maybe a little "American" about him?
I have this obsession with an idea I read in the novel Road to Reckoning, describing a certain character as a good bad man. I realize that I have a weakness for this kind of character (possibly starting with my love for John Proctor), the kind of man who, as Anne (of Green Gables) says she'd like to marry-- someone who *could* be wicked but wouldn't. Do you think Ross is a good bad man? Or does he only seem "bad" because he doesn't fit into society's role for him?
TwitterChat Question 4 (first Poldark question):
We're very curious: Which moment in Poldark was your favorite?

TwitterChat Question 5 (second Poldark question):
Who is your favorite character in Poldark? Besides Ross, of course. ;)

TwitterChat Question 6 (third Poldark question):
*SPOILER* (if you haven't gotten to about halfway through the season)
We thought Ross & Demelza's relationship was fascinating. What did you think about the way they're treated by society?

This idea of Ross as a "good bad man" is interesting! Looking forward to the Twitter chat tonight. I am more than halfway through the TV series but still have some episodes left!

Uh oh! I hope we didn't spoil anything for you!
I love the complexity of a good bad man... but maybe Ross is more of a bad good man? I mean, he breaks social norms and (maybe) laws, but it's usually for a good/noble/just reason...
