Paul This is a thread for us to let each other know what we're currently listening to and to talk a little bit about it should we wish to.

I'll get the ball rolling by saying that today I've been listening to Primus. They're one of my absolute favourite bands and their music is virtually undefinable. Vocalist/bass player/banjo player Les Claypool is, in my humble opinion, the greatest bass player I've ever heard! He really turns an instrument that is usually relegated to (an important role in) the background to a very versatile lead instrument.

I love Primas as well.
I am listening to Carmina Barona today. This is a piece written in old German. I got the pleasure to preform it in Germany with the Symphony Choral of Missoula Montana in the early 90s so it has a place in my heart.

zed (4triplezed) I need to ween myself off Joanna Newsom. She is receiving all my attention as of late.

"Jotunheim" by: Therion.

I found this song by accident and I fell in love with it.

Totally understandable; she makes some damned fine cherry pie music!

Good choice! That's my favourite piece of choral music! I've been to see the Royal Philharmonic perform it twice at the Albert Hall...

David Ruffle | 28 comments Today so far, I am listening to Rajaz by Camel. The line-up of Camel has fluctuated through the years, but an ever present is Andrew Latimer who is one of the finest guitarists on the planet!

message 14: by zed (new)

zed (4triplezed) Camel. Now there's a blast from the past.

I listened to the radio today.

message 16: by Paul (new)

Paul I loathe and detest the radio for three main reasons:

1. There always seems to be more irritating, jingly ads than music.

2. The constant waffling about trivial bollocks by the DJs.

3. Most radio stations seem to play the same twelve songs on a constant loop all day long.

You need to listen to independent/community radio. Hard to find I know but I am lucky to have a beauty to listen to when I need a radio fix. http://www.4zzzfm.org.au/program

message 18: by Paul (new)

Paul My main problem is that the only time I listen to the radio is at work and none of my co-workers share my tastes in music. They're more the 'listen to whatever shite happens to be in the pop charts at the moment' type, sadly.

Mate I sympathise. I worked at a place for 6 months and the 2 ladies I worked with had to have it on commercial radio, no ifs no buts no maybes . If I ever hear that song about a fella "never giving his girls flowers" again after having to rammed down my throat 4 times a day for 6 moths I will have to commit hari kari.
