amg Welcome to the seventh part of our re-read of The Witch's Daughter! On this thread, you can discuss the book up to Passchendaele, Flanders, 1917. Please be considerate and don't jump ahead -- we don't want to spoil anything for the first-time readers among us!

To kick off the discussion, here are five questions for you to answer in the comments section below.

Discussion Questions:
1. Were you surprised when you found out about Gresseti and Simon? What about Abigail?
2. What did you think of Bess's escape?
3. How do you feel about Tegan and Elizabeth's evolving relationship? Has your opinion of Tegan changed since the beginning of the novel?
4. Are you as suspicious of Ian as Elizabeth is?
5. Do you think Elizabeth will alienate Tegan with her suspicions over Ian? Do you think he is Gideon?

Deborah (deborahkehoe) 1) I was completely shocked, but when looking back I guess I should've expected it. She hasn't been able to find happiness in any of her lives.
2) I was glad she was able to escape, but surprised that it worked? I keep wondering when she is going to fail.
3) I was upset that Tegan was treating Elizabeth so poorly. I guess I wanted her to act more mature than she actually was. My opinion of Tegan is constantly changing.
4) after her story with Simon, I'm suspicious of any males that are in her life.
5) I will admit to having finished the book, but I did think Tegan wouldn't listen to Elizabeth. When you are that young, you think you know everything. I didn't want to think Ian was Gideon, but it did make sense.

Magiccats 1. Yes, I too was shocked re Simon, but I had a hint re the cane that Gresseti might be Gideon.
2. I didn't realize that her power was as strong as it was.
3. Well, regarding Ian, I was beginning to wonder what was up as we never saw much of him.
5. Yes, at that age they never listen. Hormones you know. I wasn't sure if he would be Gideon. although ....
