What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Ok, so here it goes:

WHEN: I read this book about 7 years ago (2009) but I'm pretty sure the book is way older since it was my mom's. I guess a hint is the book was set somewhere around the 60's (when the protagonists are in high school) and in the 90's (when they get reunited as adults).
WHAT READING LEVEL IS AMIED AT: I'll go with adult. Even if it starts as a young-teenage-love (I can't remember if the do the xxx), I recall some sex scenes of the now-grown up boy with different girls, and a sex scene (oral sex) of the now-grown up girl with her now way old boyfriend (like really, old, a grandpa like).
WHAT THE STORY IS ABOUT: *WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD (I'm very descriptive)*
The story starts with this good girl who come from a nice and respected family. The boy is a poor kid who lives in a trailer with his mom and an alcoholic stepfather. Also he works at the local gas station. The town is small and so during high school (or junior high, can't remember so well) he and she meet and end up liking each other. After a while, the girl's father cheats on her mom, and the boy's stepdad beats him so badly, that he decides to leave town in the middle of the night, leaving her alone.
The story then follows several years later, when the boy is now a lonely hollywood actor who has sex with lot of different actrecces (and i recall he also smokes and drinks a lot). The girl, on the other hand, becomes an event organizer (or planner, dunno how you call them) who is just starting to get popular in the bussiness, and organizes dinners and parties. She ends up meeting his new boyfriend, a man way older than her who likes to satisfy her in bed but can't since his wienner doesn't work anymore (hence the oral sex scene I told way above).
So, in one of the parties she's organizing, the old boy ends up being invited, and they met again, and so he wants to get back with her since he misses her so much, but she's like "no, i have a boyfriend, we will even get married". Anyway, they end up having like this all-alone weekend when she finds out she still loves him, and so she plans to leave the grandpa-boyfriend, only to find out he has alredy left her for someone his same age.
In the end, the boy and girl get together once again for real, and live happily ever after.
GENRE: Fiction.
FORMAT: I got to read it as a normal book. No hard cover, not ebook, just a simple plain book. I also vaguely remember the colors of the cover where like light brown.

I would really aprecciate your help with this. Seems my mom sold it and I need to get it for myself.

Hi lobstergirl, I can say I do recognize the name Danielle Steel, but can't recall if she's the author of this book. I did look at most of her books, and none fit the plot I read.
The other two authors are new to me, never heard of.

Sounds close to Remember When series. But they meet in HS during the late 80's and get reunited later when she is interviewing him since he is now a famous actor. She was also engaged to an older man.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the one I'm looking for (it was a single book and here you post a trilogy), but I will definetly read this too.
