Persephone Books discussion

I gave this 5 stars. I loved the writing style, which is pruned hard with very short paragraphs. All the power is between the lines.

Anybody else finished?

I'm so super late to the party! I was initially put off by the writing style, because it's so seemingly simplified, but I ended up realizing that simple doesn't equal simplified. All the emotion is under the surface, and it's really appropriate to the narration.

Has anyone read anything else by Murray? I wondered whether this was her standard writing style or whether the sort of compressed, held-back feeling of it was something she chose specifically for this book and narrator.
