Sushicat | 845 comments Another interesting visit in Fjällbacka. I like going back to Eva Falke and Patrick Hedström, see what's happening in their life and to their friends, how they get embroiled in another mystery.
In this one the roots go back to the second world war.

I really like this series, with it's well established set of characters and the setting in small town Sweden. The plots are solid and they are well written.

Is this scary/dark/graphic, or more heavy on the mystery side?

They are more on the mystery side. In this one a body is found at the start of the book and it's pretty gruesome. But then it is really about finding out about events and personal history that go back to WW2.

The series is centered around Eva Falke - a journalist - and Patrick Hedström - a cop. There is a nice bunch of everyday people with a real life issues and lives that develop in the course of the series. On top of that interesting mysteries reaching into past history.

Susie I'm intrigued and am adding the series to my ever-expanding list!

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8527 comments I won this book in a giveaway ... but have not read any of the earlier books in the series. Will I be lost if I read this one without reading the earlier books?

No. Each book can stand alone. I've been ROOing as I picked up the versions I could get at the library. I just get a bit mixed up with jumping back and forth in the relationship between Eva and Patrick and their families and friends.
