I'm currently reading it, and I'm really not a big fan of them. I'm feeling no connection between those two, Julian could be annoying and he is making me not like Emma. I like Mark.. ill take him with anyone. :)

I love Mark! But I feel like he belongs with Kieran and no one else.

I love Julian and Emma, I've been ready to read more about them since I finished Mortal Instruments. Why did you think he was annoying?

No, though I do feel like Mark needs to discover who he is a little more before he starts serious relationships.

I'm still not done reading it, but his jealousy, and hatred towards Mark is what's making me not like him. I'm not a big fan of Emma either. I really like the twins, Mark and Christina.

I agree with taylor, I don't think Julians annoying at all. And he's a very refreshing male lead (Will and Jace were a bit too alike).

I couldn't agree more. I love his character, and at this point i don't want him to be wih anyone but his family. Its so cute when he's spending time with them.

Kieran's jealousy is interesting, I think its because he's a prince and is used to getting what he wants.

No, i was talking about Julian's jealously towards Mark.

Christina is great! If things had gone differently for Julian and Emma, I feel like Christina would have been Emma's Parabatai.

Oh! Yah I agree I think that was one of the low points in Julian's personality. He should cut his traumatized brother some slack!

Maybe he'll grow on me, i'm only 300 pages in. I really liked him in CoHF and he is such a sweetheart for taking care of his siblings, but as soon as Mark showed up, he turned very bitter. He is jealous Emma likes Mark, he is jealous Ty likes him more, he hates him for being taken..?? Really Julian? And then Emma being mad at Mark for Julian's sake.

He grew on me

Julians jealousy of Mark doesn't bother me, it just feels a little unnatural at times like he jumped too far into "she must like Mark" from something that was a very casual thing. But at the same time he has been in love with Emma for as long as he could remember and has always thought she like his older brother, I think he was jealous of Mark even when he was 12. I like Julian for what his character has been through, he's had to keep it together for his family for so long and here comes Mark getting to play the brother role that he should have gotten to play and when he sees Mark with Emma he thinks Mark is going to get to be for Emma what he wishes he could be for her... I'd be jealous too!

I'm feeling so protective over Mark right now that anyone who is even slightly inconsiderate of him starts bothering me. Also I'm not feeling any parabatai or best friend bond between Emma and Julian, like Will and Jem. They are just... meh.

lol well Julian never bothered me so he never had to grow on me, but there is one part at the end of the book where he kind of opens up to his family about what all he is really dealing with at home, if he doesn't get some sympathy points from you at that time than he is probably just out of luck!

Gurl, i'm not done with the book yet. And i do apologize, i came across too harsh, i do like Julian a lot! It just irritated me when him and Emma were mad at Mark for being Kidnapped. Are you kidding me right now? Also i'm just not into any romantic aspects of the book, i'm more interested in family and friendship kind of stuff.

I had forgotten about that part, yeah that was frustrating! Enjoy the rest of the book!

I feel the same way. I was curious to see where his relationship was going with Cristina, but when ms. Clare introduced Kieran as Mark's companion I couldn't help but think "This feels right."

I mean I ship them a bunch but what Jem tells them towards the end... I don't know how they're gonna get out if that one...

Well, I'm guessing that if there will be some happy happy joy joy at the ending, Emma and Julian will find a way to break the bond and Cristina will be her parabatai. Maybe clary will create a new rune or we will find that kit has some powers :)

I am thinking it will end up Mark and Emma.

No. I am pretty sure that ship has sailed, as it were, I don't think he is interested in Kierent any longer. Actually, I don't think that Kieran really ever loved Mark. More like he waqnted to own Mark. He was always hoping to leave Faerie, and never even once thought about leaving Kieran as a bad thing. I doubt he ever really loved him. I think they were just friends with benefits from Mark's point of view. Kieran was the one that got hung up. Its not going anywhere.

Am I the only person who doesn't ship Julian and Emma super hard? I was just like "meh" about the whole Julian/Emma thing. I felt like Emma was a boring (though admittedly better than Clary) character. Julian was alright, My friend ships Julian and Emma a lot, but... I don't know, I just didn't feel like I could connect to it.

Mark Blackthorn, now. So much better. Mark is probably my favorite character in any of Cassandra Clare's books (William Herondale comes at a close close second). I ship both Marktina and Kierark... I feel like I only cared about that couple in the book. Am anticipating the whole Kit/Ty thing. Hopefully that's less of a disappointment than Julian/Emma.

I need the next book so I can see what happens to Mark and Kieran and Cristina! (I honestly do not care what happens with Emma and Julian, as long as Emma does not interfere with any of my ships. Otherwise she can just fucking die.)
